I mean the site just went back up, it seems kinda glitchy atm (some ghosts that i remember seeing just arent there now), plus for some reason just typing in ninrankings.org brings you to a site about getting domains, you have to type in https://ninrankings.org. Hopefully the site will be fully functional soon and we'll have all the ghosts back up, also I heard theres a backup of a bunch of the ghosts that were on there anyways.

Another weird bug i noticed, the spanish jorge (jorge in all lowercase) that set some DKM wr leads to that same Dotman profile, which then leads back to the Jorge everyone knows. I think its because if you change the capitals of the same name in a url, the other games show up, but not the wrs they set in this game. (For example, if I went to Cole's MKW WR page and changed his name in the url to be cOlE, his MKW WRs won't show up but his other games he had wrs in will.)

That was the only one I felt confident adding at the moment. There's a tentative progression that I could add, but there's no guarantee that it'd be exactly accurate

Added in a 2:18.998 from Doom which was at least set before 8/15/09 (https://www.mariokart64.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1250119675/25#37) and thankfully he's still pretty active even if there's a small chance he'd be able to recollect anything he did in this category during this time.

Were we thinking about doing this for GV as well?

That leaderboard was copy/pasted from the archive link. I didn't create it myself. Just thought it'd be helpful to have more people to look at.

@Diamond, I added in GV Non-SC to the best of my knowledge. Another complication here is what the last WR was before the SC was discovered. I'm pretty sure ちゅうたろう☆メポ～'s 1'55"016 did, since it was a 3 second jump, but GV is a pretty inconsistent track so who knows.

1'55"016 was definitely the first one with SC. Apparently it was only done on the last lap at first though lol.

These times are on the Player's Page Non-SC chart, and would be the only ones that would fit into our current progression. However, there's no guarantee that either of these didn't use the shortcut

Okay so it looks like what happened is this:
4/24/08: 1'58"685 by ちゅうたろう☆メポ～
4/30/08: Last lap jump into lava respawn is discovered and used in last lap of 1'55"016
5/1/08: Ridley discovers the rock hop, meaning the shortcut can be used on laps 1 and 2 now without fear of losing your shrooms.
*Fun Fact: Ridley ALSO discovered the larger GV cut on 2008-06-01 AND the MC cut in 2011 lol

I also updated the pre-sc times to be included on the Non-SC list now

I believe at #36 the 2:18.876 by Marco was likely world record. Set less than 2 months before JimmyB’s rBC3 ’’’’’’’’’’’first’’’’’’’’’’’ no sc wr, the chances of it once being the record are over 95% imo. It’s true that it might not have been, but for now I think it should be added to the history before Jimmy’s 2:18.318 just because of how close they were. I’m trying to unravel the rest of rBC3 no glitch’s history, so if you have any thing that might help piece together the puzzle, please let me know.

I'm thinking of changing how the site displays these 2 tracks (GV non-SC and BC3 non-SC), and separating the history into 3 tables:
-Non-SC WRs before the shortcut was discovered
-Non-SC BKTs before the Non-SC WR category became official
-Non-SC WRs after the category became official

I personally think these old GV and BC3 times should not count as WRs, as they were not considered official WRs at the time they were set and it's possible that other players (e.g. Japanese players) had faster times that we don't know about. They also give misleading stats since they are among the longest lasting WRs for that time period, even though they are in most cases weaker than the official WRs. But it is nice to have these times on the page and many people have asked about these times. So this planned change would make it so the times would still appear on the track history but they would not count towards WR stats. I would also include some text about why these categories are a bit different than the other Non-SC ones.

Of course there wasn't really a date when Non-SC became official. I think the cutoff date the site used before was fine for this purpose (mid 2010 which was around 1 year before the PP added Non-SC charts).

Feel free to keep adding these times using the current system, since the data can easily be migrated/moved around when/if I work on implementing this change.

I agree with adding the text saying that these world records may not be completely correct, but not including them in the database seems a bit much. I believe we should keep them counting as world records, but maybe, for example, having an option to turn pre 2010 non shortcut world records off when looking at things such as list snapshot, longest lasting WRs, etc.

This is probably the easier (I’m not a coder so don’t kill me if it’s not) and better solution to this. If people don’t believe adding the old non sc world records is a good idea, they can just turn them off.
