Iwata just revealed through today's Nintendo Direct that a oncomnig firmware update will allow implementation of patches in games.

And right afterward announced that this update will fix the glitched Mario Kart 7 tracks

HOLY SHIT MEGATON Shocked

I wonder how it will influence the time trial records of those who did the glitches...

I still can't believe they are actually doing this ! Today marks the end of the era of SC driving. A day to remember for all of us !!!

Then they realised that this means nintendo might also start patching cool techniques like snaking in the future due to scrub demand. This is cool though, but I always felt like patching could also harm competitive growth in games. Especially when it is done by the most casual friendly company.

I wonder how it will be handled in TT mode.

Will they check through all ghosts on their server and delete glitched ones?
Will they just leave them, but make the glitch impossible in TT, so your ghost is ruined forever?

I'm happy to hear that there will be a patch, but I'll wait with my celebration until the patch is available so we can really see what & how everything will be fixed.

But it was a glitch that was so easy to do and didn't like ruin the whole track, only about 30% of it. lol.

I'm rather talking about the GV one, because this one is abused online. Moreover, it's obvious that Nintendo care more about the multiplayer mode, mainly because they don't want a casual player to be disadvantaged against players who use glitches. As the situation between GV and MW is quite similar, I think the idea of fixing glitched tracks came with the problems GV (and even WGM, BC, MG, CM,...) has created. Nintendo don't care a lot about TT.

Meh it will affect offline. Ninty one time said something about them not wanting to create a patch because of people that play offline and would cause an "unfortunate disadvantage" for people that did/did not install a patch. and as for people wondering about people that didnt install the patch trying it online, Im sure this will be fixed. nintendo has the power to change their online services however they please, they did this before on SSBB where they took out that crappy online spectate mode for a time.

Wow, this is great news. It's not entirely without precedent, though. (Skyward Sword has already had a game-breaking glitch patched.) I kind of wonder if there's any possibility of this for MKWii...
