1st POQ (Jan-Mar) 2012
04/05/12 at 10:48:19

Finally here it is. The long awaited poll to decide who is the best player in the first quarter of 2012. Let's find out who the nominees are.

#2 Andy Lundeen: You can't get around Andy these days, he's the talk of the MKSC town. Andy didn't move up on the AF charts this quarter, but he did close the gap to #1 Seb and is only a few efforts away from becoming the new MKSC world champion. And of course, don't forget the countless new WRs he made last months.

#39 Jonathan Steel: Jonathan proves that he isn't only a MKDD pro by moving up over 20 spots this quarter. He started on the edge of the top 60 and his ARR was in the higher Advanced rankings. Now, only three months later, he entered the top 40 and even became Expert C.

#53 Sebastian Wimmer: Timur already compared him with Usain Bolt, and he's right about that. Sebastian (we have another Sebastian on the site btw, and look where he is ranked) started out in the 3-digit rankings and fought his way up to the 53rd spot, missing the top 50 by only 3 AF points.

I hereby declare the votings opened. The poll will be closed Friday April 13th. May the best karter win.

Note: It is allowed to share your opinion and choice in this topic, as the results of the poll will be hidden until it is closed.

Andy didn't get world champ this quarter so he clearly sucks.

Jk but I'm gonna vote either Wimmi or Jonathan, not sure yet. You have my vote when you get WC Shock Kiss

My vote goes to Wimmi who's fighting in the same AF area as I did when I came back, and I like to read his new PRs.

Andy is already POY 2011 and future World Champ, he can leave this POQ to an outsider Wink

MKDD is not technical at all

Gaming Guru Extraordinaire (© Sargoth) – SMK '09, '13, '14 POY, former #1 (PAL: August 2013 - May 2017 / NTSC: March '14 - April '17) – 80/80 M+ PRs

The feeling of being a world champion is intoxicating, and I didn't want to ever not be the world champion again. Then I realized it didn't matter that much since I had nothing more to prove and achieved my most important goal(s).

Just noticed, you can still see the votes. Change it, or everyone can watch the progress of it Tongue

Also, voted Wimmi because, as stated above, Shock already got enough Player Ofs Cheesy I know cuts in this area aren't easy, but you just can't let someone win all awards if he just is superior to others all the time... xD no offense shock, I really respect you and your skills (and I love you for SGB flap Cool) but this time you won't get my vote. Sry Undecided

This is like... the worst argument someone has ever come up to justify a non vote.
Awards go to the player to performed the best relative to his skills in a given timespan, and they are irrelevant to whatever awards the player already got in the past. Period.
While Shock remained #2 this whole quarter, he cut off HALF of its average finish and achieved over a dozen of WR's. If he doesn't get an important award for this then no one will ever deserve it.
No offense to the contenders, I'm sure they put in a lot of effort, but there's literally no contest this time.

Thanks for the votes Smiley

I voted for Andy, because it's just amazing, how much he improved at such an high level and how close he got to #1 in this quarter.
Jonathan would have deserved the vote too, as he is consistantly PRing on a very good level, improving AF, moving up the charts all the time, but it's just very hard to compete for such an award when somebody like Andy is active.

Impossible to not vote for Andy, even if he doesn't reach #1 in time. He clearly dominates this first quarter.

I'm not sure exactly where I started this quarter, but if it was at 5.0 AF points, and I ended at 2.7 AF points then...

% AF cut = (5.0 - 2.7) / (5.0 - 1.0) = 57.5%

So I made around a 60% AF cut at the very top of the charts and set over 10 WRs in the first quarter.

Then again, I didn't quite make it to Seb... so yeah. I'm not sure of the stats of the other players, but those are mine. I think all 3 of us had impressive quarters; it's good to see all the activity!

Not to sound harsh(ish), as all 3 made incredible progress, but I'm going with Andy. Many of us have seen his incredible rise through the charts, and even when below 3 AF, his activity never dropped, he popped off new WR's and GOD times, sliced his AF in half, and still PR's at a constant rate. Definitely mind-blowing.

Andy, promise me that you'll aim for below 2.0000 AF man -- would be incredible ( and do the proper RR strat 3/3 dammit! Smiley).

I've had this problem, also on Chrome for a couple of months, exact same error.
At first I had it only on the SMK PRs topic (just my usual lurking), so I asked someone else to check the thread out and see whether it was a certain link firing it up. In the end it didn't seem to be anything it particular so I just 'proceeded anyway' and have been doing so for many seemingly random threads across all the boards.

On topic, my vote goes to Andy.
While it is a shame it is hard for others to get 'Player of's that would sometimes be obtained for sure in other parts of the year for great dedication to the game and some great PRs, Andy thoroughly deserves this for I believe putting the most time and effort into the game this quarter, pulling off a spectacular no. of WRs and and cutting a hefty chunk off his %AF.

O well I actually made bad research, I thought shock's AF cut was way lower...well I haven't voted so far so that's not really the problem.
