I'm ~#150 on mkds, although Chris managed to get down to ~#130 much quicker than me also using the Cpad on the 3ds, and I've not spent too long on mksc, but I'm at #70, and could get down to #50 or
#40 with a little work.
All 3 games are great fun to play on the 3ds, even if I'm held back a little on mkds and mksc.
And if you wanted mksc on the 3ds you would've needed to have bought the 3ds and accessed the online shop by early August last year.

For MKSC it's too late but you could still play decently with the D-pad of the 3DS, although... it's not very ergonomical.

I'd strongly recommand finding a DS phat to play both MKSC and MKDS, because I don't think MKSC will be released on the eShop anytime soon, if ever.

But technically you can still do advanced strategies, the D-pad in itself isn't bad at all.
