No flaps? No problem.

Am I the only one who doesn't miss flaps?

I was pissed when I heard this game wouldn't have them. They're an integral part of Mario Kart TTs! How could you just forget them and insult us like that?! MK7 is going to suck!

After playing for a while, I don't really care. I never find myself thinking, "Waaah I wish I could go for the flap now." Since coins are in there, it would be a huge hassle to get flaps.

I actually like TTing this game. Having to get coins isn't so great, but it's bearable. My hands don't cramp up from having to snake all over the place, my thumb doesn't get sore from wobbling a joystick around, and I don't have to restart every time I misalign a wheelie.

Opinions?

My hands cramp harder after mk7 than after mkds. 3DS is just a pain to play with for long.

Yes, I thought it would take a large part of the competition away, but I've barely thought of it since the poll decision was finalised.

I actually don't mind either, we've got enough work to do with the 3laps. Smiley

I like it better w/o flaps, as I wasn't into them even when they were important. I preferred seeing my best 1 shroom lap time over a 3 shroom lap just to see how much better I could make my 3lap.

I kind of miss them because I certainly do better on laps than on 3laps, but yeah, it’s not as bad as I thought before game release

I use to have the same problem but then I got a Nyko Power Grip and it made the 3DS much more comfortable to hold as well as increasing the battery life significantly =P

Maybe you should check it out, here's a pic:

I don't miss flaps right now, but that's more due to me being busy with the the total times. I imagine once I either max out my times or get bored with total times, I'll wish that flaps were saved. I could say the same of Missions mode. I loved it in mkds, but I'm not missing it right now. I don't think mk7 has the replay value of mkds.

Right now, I'm partly glad flaps aren't saved and not in the main charts, since I'm not playing too much and going so slow through the courses. I might not even have a full timesheet yet if flaps were in lol.

Also, flaps would be a bit of a pain in this game, having to collect 10 coins first. And my left thumb feels better with mk7 compared to mkds, but my hands and wrists hurt more with the 3ds. Here are some grip accessories I've looked at getting:

I bought this one for my gf, as she (& I) both got "hand-pain" after a short time of playing already, and with this it feels way more comfortable to play, and the price is good too:

edit: @topic: I don't miss flaps either, I never really liked them in MKW, especially when you had to wait for half a minute in front of the finish to start your attempt because you had to wait for a bridge to come down, or cars to be in the perfect position, and then you fail the first curve anyways and have to restart...

Im extremely pissed off that I passed on the chance to buy the grip thing that came with the 3ds in a boxed set for an extra $20 and instead just bought only the console.

it still feels like the game is missing something but i don't feel too burned for no flaps. the coins would have made them way more annoying as pointed out already so it is actually a bit better that they're not tracked.
but i hope the next MK brings them back and doesn't have annoying stuff to do them. how hard is it to let us do a flap like in the old games?
