I got an email from Kelvin a few days ago, and pretty much he came clean and told the whole story from start to finish.  I figure I would release part of what he said to me, but obviously omitting anything that will create future copy cats, but give you guys enough info to know that basically he's moved on, and felt bad about everything, so he came clean and told the story, and now I figure we can move on knowing we don't have to worry about new members possibly being JCM clones or whatever else.  here we go:

"Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Kelvin Castillo, the person behind everything that was involved during the Brenda/Karina incident. I am revealing everything to you"

"It all started when I was around 15 years of age, I followed a member from the IGN boards to the mariokart forum. His name, Jeffrey Gutierrez.  I was intrigued to see the community that I joined under my username Kelvin_Castillo known to Jeffrey Gutierrez as elchino2002. I loved it there but there was one problem, I did not even have any kart game  so I was just a stupid teenager and decided to lie about it but as a different alias. For some foolish reason my new alias became Julio Cesar Morales. Jeffrey Gutierrez had told me that he was the youngest mk64 karter to have achieved GOD rank so I decided to pretend to be some poor teenager from Mexico and beat Jeffrey's achievement. I knew of the proof requirements so being a teenager and all we are always looking for excuses. I did my research and when I was questioned about my rapid improvement by Michael Liem, I told him that I was no new karter and I would soon reach the level I once had.  He gave me a deadline which was impossible for me to do since I have never even played any kart game at all. Only my cousins owned an N64 with mk64 and I only played GP mode. I decided to get ahold of the console and kart64 and I bought it for $20. The learning curve was very hard, I now realized the times that I claimed where very far away and the deadline would be in a month. September came, I was a cocky bastard and pretended to know what I was talking about by

My times where removed that day and I was asked if I wanted to be part of the site again I would have to provide proof and be validated by a known kart witness.

Something caught my attention, I saw that there where hardly any female karters. This is when I decided to create a new alias, Brenda Martinez from Mexico. I was very stupid when it came to computers that I did not realize what I was getting into. (removed a sentence)

I went on with it, made friends with Pobre. I am sure he knew I was the same person but he was just going with the flow. I mean for crying out loud I had the same terrible grammar and gangsta attitude as Julio in all our msn conversations. I friended a few karters before making my entrance in the forum. Pretending to be a girl was a bit awkward. I now needed pictures and I had a good looking girl in my class http://www.bebo.com/Profile.jsp?MemberId=18564274. Everything was set, I did not have to worry about that problem.

When I did my introduction, I now realize how stupid that was. It is pitiful, same words, same grammar.  I told the community I was new and needed assistance with the game.. I made a lot of friends and everyone seemed to trust me until that day I was discovered by such an amateur mistake. Mark Jones called me out, (removed 2 sentences) I can only laugh at such stupidity today. My profile said I was from Guadalajara, Mexico (removed part of a sentence) . Explain yourself missy where Mark Jones words.  It was like if I was struck by lighting, the whole world came down on me. I am a very emotional guy and I must admit I shed a few tears. I came up with some stupid suicide post and I would like to apologize to the community and especially to Martin McMullan for making that post and involving him the way I did.

My story continues, I was a stupid idiot that I was persistent to continue to get on the site under a new alias. As you are aware, all my actions failed. I had given up on kart64 and decided to the explore the other kart sites and succeeded for a short term of time. As always I was asked for proof since I was highly ranked. I took a liking in mariokart DS but eventually all things come to an end. Next, I decided to try out lying on MKDD under the alias Andres Oliveira Dos Santos. every alias I made had something in commom, a latin/spanish name and they all ended up ranking high. I tried to avoid the forum police but as I ranked higher and higher they came on me fast.

I was about to finish everything related to kart, I was a complete fool. It was pointless to keep going but my persistence got the best of me. I thought to myself, one mistake I always did was (removed 2 and a half sentences) A year passed and I kept improving and submited my times under the alias John Falls Marshall.  Why not try my luck with an american alias hehe. There was one problem, I was now aware that I have been (removed part of this) so if I would rank high someday, I would be a gonner. The solution came next year, due to college expenses my family failed to pay my tuition to I left the states and landed in El Salvador.

A new story begins now, (removed part of sentence)  I could now be a new alias and would never be caught.  I wanted to be a girl again, I had that obsession for a girl to reach the legends ranks and make history( beautiful thought don't you think?)By this time I was ranked about elite but submitting those times would be suspicious so once again I made the same foolish mistake. I made my introduction with the same god awful grammar under the alias Karina Villa. Everyone was doubting my introduction and where in the world would some girl come out of nowhere with an N64 in a country where it is visioned to be a jungle(not true by the way) I answered every doubt they had and everything was going according to plan until the next day. 1: This is a very difficult question, there where so many that I would have to take my time and go though all of yahoogroups NOT just for mariokart64 but for all the kart games.  Some names that come to mind, the infamous Julio Cesar Morales, Brenda Marisol Martinez, John Falls Marshall, Christopher Ngyuyen, Vanessa Contreras, Rosalinda Cancino, Andres Oliveira Dos Santos, Aaron Schwartz. The good news is most of my aliases where deleted.

2. Oh this is a very long story indeed. If my memory is correct this dates back to the IGN boards. My username on there was elchino2002, his was PobrePelican. This boy loved to brag a lot, how he was one of the best MKDS wifi players in the world. I did some research on MKDS and decided to pretend I knew what I was doing despite not owning a DS or the game. Obviously, I needed to gain reputation and his trust so me being the smartass in my early days decided to create more usernames for IGN. Now I pretended that those where elite karters for MKDS. I made like six of them. I remember Pobres friend was hosting a tournament. By now, I had gained pobres trust after seeing me defeat the karters that where my aliases. He eagerly wanted to race me and now he had become my friend saying elchino is the best. I advanced to the next round after beating one of my own alias and I was to race Pobre next. Now I was in trouble and I came up with an excuse, that I would race him after my soccer tournament. A race for mkds only lasts 10-15minutes so everyone was starting to doubt me. The weeks passed and I was disqualified. I came back saying sorry for not making it Pobre, maybe next time. He added me to AIM and we began to form a friendship. He would talk about how he was the youngest GOD in mk64 and that he had a older brother that was the absolute best at marioraceway shortcut. I found this interesting and did some research on mariokart64 and claimed to be good at mk64 and Pobre was shocked when I told him my Mario raceway SC time which if I remember correctly was 52.60.  Only a few hundreths slower than his. Eventually I would follow Pobre to the mariokart forum under elchino. I had my work cut out for me, (removed cheating method) This is when I decided to make a new alias, the infamous Julio Cesar Morales. Pobre had told me about the fastest karter that flew through the ranks so I would be doing the same under my new alias. He also told me about your prediction about someone would defeat Michael Jongerius.  I entered as a King F player and was a legend D players in 2 weeks. What an incredible feat so everyone thought. This must be that person Booth was talking about everyone said. It was as easy as copying and pasting kings and legend rank times and a few GOD times on my spreadsheet. There was a times viewer and a list of what times ranked good and bad. So that was very simple to imitate I was a prodigy for MK64. Moving along, me and Jeffrey where like brothers now. He said he was so proud of me. Then I made a mistake of bringing another alias that was not known to the site but only to Jeffrey himself. I told him I had an older brother named Angel that was 17-15 on matchups with the legendary MJ. Now that began to sound very suspicious to Pobre and the first thing he did was post on the forum that I had an older brother that was close to Matchups with  MJ. Forget about Julio, his brother is the one! where his words. Michael Liem had already made me aware that he had my times frozen and I would have to provide proof to validate myself. He locked the topic before everyone could voice their opinion and let me know that the deadline was september 5th. It is the date I asked for being my birthday. Pobre had told me he had an older brother so I wanted to do the same, The Morales brothers. Jeffrey was like my motivation, my inspiration to keep lying and going with my plan. I did envy him and wanted to beat him at his own game. The proof deadline eventually killed me, something I was too stupid to see at the time. The story keeps going on to the new alias Brenda I created, I added him on msn and we got to talk for a few weeks before I let him know I was around Elite F for MK64. I guess he was just playing along and knew that I was just Julio in disguise, it would be bizarre that a girl adds you to MSN randomly and starts making friends with you. (how you get my msn anyway would be your first impression). Pobre then would find my typing the exact same as Julios so I had blown my cover without me realizing it. Soon as I post on the forum under Brenda, he goes on and rants about Brenda is Julio! Now that I look at it I find it hysterical. We where so alike, stubborn, imperative and hyperactive boys. Anyway Mark Jones delivers the final blow (removed part of this) and Pobre finally has his proof that I am elchino from IGN, the person that has constantly followed him. Kelvin_Castillo, Julio_Morales, Brenda_Marisol had the same (removed 2 words) (how stupid of me) was the ultimate proof. Even after I left the forums, Pobre would still contact me and would ask me so many questions that I had stabbed his heart. Strangely after I told him and made some bullshit story about I am Julio's sister and it would be common sense (removed a few words) he began to be more relieved and would constantly talk to me for nights. Then I just dissapeared and created my new girl alias Karina.  For Karina, I used pictures from a friend. I was very stupid though to use her pictures when she was around 14 years of age when I had claimed she was 18( lol). For Karina, it seemed to me Pobre fell in love with her, (oh god I can never get that thought of my head). He would always stand by my side even after Michael Liem banned me from the forum. We would still communicate through xat and msn and not only talk about kart but (removed non-kart related info, but not like we didn't already know)  I formed a bigger friendship with Michael Fried and oh let me tell you now I could really tell he had a deep crush on me. It is like both where competing for me, very akward for me as I am no homosexual lol so pretending to be a hot girl and having every guy on me was quite disturbing. However I liked how they communicated and understood me.

- LOL I always knew Jeffrey and Fried loved guys that sound or look like girls.  You'd think they'd be more into Lacey!  Oh well, I guess beggers can't be choosers... continuing...

As Julio I friended Jeffrey Gutierrez, Karlo and Marcelo. We went on msn and conversed about strats even though most of the time I had no idea what they where talking about, I just went with it. (removed last sentence)

As Brenda, I friended (removed 3 words) SMK. I remember I submitted some false time trials and back then I had no clue whatsoever that certain times are impossible for the timer to land on. He reviewed my time sheet and he let me know if I had done any typos. I said no, those are *real* so he froze my times and told me to provide proof of my times. Luckily for me, (removed 2 or so sentences) and talked not only kart related stuff. I then was introduced to the SMK community, they where a friendly bunch. I interacted with Karel, Clark, Flo, Guillerme and some others. When it came to MK64, I communicated with Michael Fried, William Lacey and Jeffrey the most taking advantage of their kart knowledge. For MKDS I communicated the most with Nick Welch and Ben Stoneman. As for MKDD I talked to Alejandro from Mexico the most.

When it came to being John Falls Marshall I only talked to Nathan Stinson for short periods of time. As Karina I talked to  Eric(dragondragon), Pobre, Michael Fried, William Lacey. We would normally discuss my background, how I ended up playing kart and why was my english pretty good for someone that lives in an isolated hispanic country. We would discuss about personal things, play some poker. Pobre would end up getting me into the anime industry later on lol.  Michael Fried was a bit weird yet I I would spend countless hours with him chatting about any random topic. It did seem as he had some kind of high school crush on me. The same would apply to Pobre. Both acting like any alpha male would, protecting their female. Yeah, that sounds so wrong now. What was I getting myself into.

I pretty much got to meet every section of the community except MKSC. I never payed any importance to it, I felt it was a very boring game and it was a ghost town when I was around. I must say I tried to avoid April at all times fearing of being discovered, pretending to be a girl was no easy task and my horrendous typing was not helping.

I knew I recognized that name.. I'm pretty sure he was frozen and banned/removed within a week of that news update.

Hello there. I thought I never see the day I would be posting on here again. Kevin Booth has requested that I come back to answer any questions you guys might have. I tried making  a new account but it would not let me so I am using my forum account that I made a while back after my last ban to keep track of the events that have been occurring in mariokart.

As you can see, Kevin took some parts away from our conversation to prevent any potential cheaters from exploiting what I once did. It may not be  completely clear but you get the picture. It is been many years so I admit I am not going to get the actual facts perfectly but it is a very close estimate. Yes, I did not own MK64 until I was banned with my Brenda alias. I started karting after that incident. For me to remember every single detail of how I progressed would be very difficult so I gave Kevin a rough estimate.

Yes, all my times under John Falls Marshall are real, any times submitted where legit and yes I came within 0.01 of beating your times Zoran or I would beat you by the exact same amount on many occasions. At this point, I was reaching a plateau that shaving off hundredths of my times was becoming very difficult.

About Jorge, I will not get into full details on here until Kevin gives me the opportunity to discuss about it, but if you think about it the chances of a GOD karter to pull the same moves I did and have identical characteristics are very slim. It is clear to me he has been following this forum for some time and has imitated some of my work.

Again I must apologize for my actions, I only wish I could have learned from my mistakes a lot sooner and not hurt the integrity of this awesome community. When you are a teenager you do such stupid things without putting any thought about it. For example as teenagers all we can think about when we have a girl is to have sexual intercourse without protection. The day comes and you get her pregnant, all you can do is abandon her and continue on with your life and get a new girl. As you become adults you begin to understand the consequences and are responsible with your actions. It is exactly what happened to me, I now regret my actions.

As for this confession, it has liberated me of such guilt. I can now rest that in the end I did the right thing and revealed the truth.  I am not asking for forgiveness, I am a man now and will take my punishment.

Now to answer any questions. I have very limited time right now, an hour but when I return from doing my business I am looking forward to seeing your questions.

this is all very interesting (just now I'm assuming it's all true) - not least what Kelvin says about Jorge. and that very well fits what I have always thought about the Jorge phenomenon.
    I don't quite see the need to inform the community that Jeff and Fried "had a crush" on "Karina", though .

Kelvin, it's nice of you to come clean like this. and I'll also give you this: As Karina you did for a while contribute in a positive way to the forum. It seems that must have been motivated by a real interest in the game.
