Finally, the poll is up. We had quite an exciting yer in MKSC again, with several new stars appearing out of nowhere. Let's find out who are the final nominees to win this major award.

#2 Andy Lundeen started off the year on position #40. But then he decided to really start playing. One after another player fell for his, one after another WR fell for his skills. He ended the year at a nice #2, so Seb watch your back! He also holds 12 WRs at this moment!

#5 Christian Wild didn't join the site until February, and he did this at position #87, but what happened after this was unbelievable. In a few months he launched himself up the charts, to finish off 2011 as #5, grabbing 9 WRs on his way!

#26 Nicola Torre proves again that Italians are a race of their own. He needed the summer heath before he was finally warmed up, but then he passed 25 player2 in total, going from #51 to #26.

#30 Michael Vogt, finally, was also not yet on the site at the start of the year, but he joined in March at #107. With consistent activity all over the year he managed to move up 77 spots, to land at a nice #30.

Ok that's quick summary of the nominees. Votings will end Friday January 25th.

May the best karter win.

I guess we're not supposed to display our votes by replying to this thread?

I'm just asking because the "reply" button is active, I don't know the rules.

No need to hide our own votes imo, the results remains hidden until the poll is closed anyway.

Allthough Chris did a fantastic work in 2011 (also getting the POY 2011 award for SMK Smiley), I'm gonna go with Andy ! Cool
Great job and amazing improvements, man ! Smiley

OK, so I voted Andy for the same reason as Neo.

I hesitated between Chris and him but Chris already got the SMK POY, so let's give this one to Andy who was just awesome all year long.

I voted for my fellow german karterfriend Michi, who also got some very nice improvements and joined one of the less germans who are familiar with the use of ZZMTs. Not that someone thinks I voted because he's german, I voted because it seems according to the posts that Andy will get the most votes. I just want to show him that he also did great this year.

Okay. I just feel like putting in a little extra input here, since I think everyone in this poll had a great year.

Michael Vogt:

I'm assuming he played the year through non-ZZMT. If that's the case, then going from well outside the top 100 to #30 is incredible, to say the least. 77 spots jumped, yes, but there are many places along the way where it's easy to get discouraged. Many places it would be easy to just stop - 5 AF points between players for example - and just take a break from the game. You know a dedicated player when he jumps these gaps and just keeps going, and going, and going... All the way to a rank of #30, where advancing non-ZZMT starts to get tough. I applaud this guy.

Nicola Torre:

I'm also assuming he played this year non-ZZMT. I can appreciate where he's coming from too. On the table that we have, his move doesn't seem as impressive, but for being on the site for a good long while, he made a great advance nonetheless. I checked, and if I'm not mistaken, he's right next to Cole Gilbert and Nicholas Harvey. I remember the climb to these places - they used to be around #20 at the start of the year. So I feel in a way that Nicola's climb is even more impressive. He's also been an inspiration to the other karters year round, so I think he's well-deserving to be on the nominations.

Christian Wild:

What can I say. He is absolutely crazy. I remember at the beginning of the year egging him on, telling him he had potential and should get the game, etc., but it seemed little was happening. Then out of nowhere, he started racking up PRs. Over and over and over again in the chat room, I witnessed first outbursts of "Top 30 time! Cheesy" then "Top 20 time!" then "Top 10 time!" I remember shaking my head in amazement. But then... he got a World Record. That's when I knew things were serious haha. He started pulling off win after win on me, and he climbed the ranks at an astronomical rate. I even remember mentally preparing myself for him to pass me and eventually challenge Seb. I remember consoling myself that #4 world wide is still an impressive rank, and if I got stuck there for a long time, there was nothing to be ashamed about it. xD

Chris, you and I have a separation in AF of just 1.5 points, of which .5 was only a recent cut I made this week. So you ended the year less than an AF point away from me, from first picking up the game in the same year. I think you are worthy of the POY, so you have my vote.  Smiley

Just dropping in to say that Michael Vogt started using ZZMT a couple months back, and that played a big part in his climb from ~#40 (he was around Andrea and I's level) to #30. Couldn't let that slide, you know how I am about ZZMT...  Tongue

Anyways, tip of my hat to all the candidates in this poll, you all had an amazing year. I ended up voting for Andy, but only because he finally got that rMC2 sub.  Smiley

Yeah, it was a great year for me, but as Chris and Christophe already mentioned, after a couple of months (don't know when exactly) after joining the pp i made my NDS pro-ZZMT Wink
I'm not really good at it, but it helped me to climb from ~#40-45 to #30.

I personally think the decision will be between Andy and Chris..both of them would have deserved that POY, so good luck you two!  Wink

Just popping in to say hi, considering I'll be joining the site soon.
Michi, I already came across a few of your videos while tt'ing SGB a few days, they were extremely helpful, so thanks for that Smiley And of course well done on making such good progress throughout the year !
I'm tempted to make a vote, but seeing as I'm not part of the site I don't feel that I should yet, but I will say that Andy and Chris have made simply amazing progress from the stats provided, but considering I wasn't here (i.e. lurking) until very recently, I don't think I'll vote, but good luck to all the nominees, may the best karter win Smiley

Definitely between only Andy & Christian, both had phenomenal years..

In the end, it has to be Andy. Higher rank (1 AF point is a lot that high up) plus a few extra WR's gets him the nod.

I am not trying to provoke. I was unable to voice my opinions properly as site moderator but now I am not I can say what I like as long as its within board rules.

I was simply making the factual statement which was that Fenner was the best mksc player last year.

Otherwise i'm voting for Andy, not least for his driving ability but for his immense help and contribution in trying to "help" the Fenner situation. Not provoking flame wars.

Did...not...see...this...coming...it's becoming more than just a tad predictable. It's sad to see that the once awesome Tom Gaffikin is now merely wasting his and our time here, solely using every opportunity he gets to make repetitive statements regarding his stance on the Fenner case, which is already more clear-cut than the existance of gravity at this point. It's like you have become a parody of yourself, stuck in some sort of insane self closing loop. I mean you do realize that right? Like I said, crying shame. Move on bro.

Actually this is much less sad to see a former site admin involving in the MKSC activity (even if this is just to defend Fenner once more) than to see that MVT kid trolling and insulting people again on a board he only visits for that, since he doesn't play MKSC at all.

Oh well, that seems to be a completely different stance than what you just took in your previous post.  As I noted, I don't troll.  I simply form arguments in favor of something I feel is unjust.  Actually it seems to be very similar to what you and karel did to get Fenner removed in the first place.  It seemed to be ok for you to continually post about and bring up in a bunch of different threads when you wanted Fenner gone.  You and KVD continuously threw around the "freedom of speech" card and attacked Tom constantly until he actually stepped down due to that.  Now it's the other way around, and you have a problem with it?  Oh please, piss off buddy.  Go cry to the admins.

I'll do whatever the fuck I want.  I'm not gunna be bullied around by some random smk kid / mksc noob.  Freedom of speech pal (how many times did you use that one?  A lot I think), I'm not going to be censored because what I say doesn't agree with the agenda you keep pushing for.  Nor am I going to revert to CAPS to threaten another poster on the board or try to push people around and control them.

I certainly don't have to, but if you want, since I'm a nice guy in a good mood, then fine I'll leave you alone.  I'm satisfied, and would rather not keep wasting my time talking to someone who doesn't actually read or respond to any of the points or reasoning I lay out in my posts.

I'm at least happy to have exposed what a true immature child you are, and it's sure been coming out the last day or two in your posts and only seemingly getting worse.  Like a baby throwing a temper tantrum.

Go cry about it anytime anyone disagrees with you even in a respectful well thought out logical way as I have tried in the past, because bottom line is, you can't handle the truth!

I'm out.

P.S. anyone who wants to LOGICALLY (with actual reason and reasoning) talk about the issue of Fenner, please go to the "decision thread".  I'd be happy for some real thoughtful discourse.

You just don't know anything about me apart from my position on the Fenner case, but that seems to allow you to judge my personality and, more generally, who I am. I have absolutely no lessons to learn from someone who is regarded as a troll by many people in this community and I'm rather satisfied with one thing: all the people here, who know a bit who I am, will probably think you're exaggerating and making very personal a situation you're not involved with for no reasons but a quest for justice that makes a huge amount of big MKSC players laugh. What you're telling about me could also be applied to you: I don't have to be bullied around by some random MB member. And what does that "SMK kid" means, lol. I'm 25 and play this game since 1994, I'm a member of the Players' Site for 8 years and know people from the whole community for much more longer than you do.

I'm a MKSC noob, but does that prevent me from having an opinion on a cheater who's now revealing his true nature to everyone, and even to people like Andy who trusted him and had better reasons than Tom or Ethan to do it. Am I responsible for that? I don't know how a retired #50 who played MKSC around 1 month and a half could have some influence in the decision of removing Fenner. I'm just one of the many serious and [insert here some kind of adult/mature-like word that describes exactly the contrary of what you think I am] karters who positioned against that guy Tom reintegrated on the site months ago when many of them were already doubting this was the good decision. You're always criticizing Karel and me but Florent asked for a removal too, and so did Pierre and Matt even if their wish didn't come true.

This said, you will probably keep the same opinion about a person you're only judging on her fight for a clean MKSC site without a fake champion. This is your right and I don't have any right to criticize this, but apart from accusing you of trolling, I don't think I wrote you were a noob, a kid, a blackmailer or anything negative on a person I just don't know. Now, I beg you to act as the mature person you claim to be, since only this kind of people are able to judge who is immature and who is not. So if you understood the "leave me alone" part (as you seem to do in your last post), I think this will be the best thing for both you and me, even if I hate to make "enemies" on message boards, especially when they're people who are still posting everyday and probably do not deserved to be banned.
