know when a player sometimes gets the blue sparks around them and drives
quite a lot faster than normal (it's also in mkwii but I don't know a lot about that
game either),, what is it and when does it come up? It seems kinda random to
me but Im sure you guys know better than me..
also, is it true that you still unlock stuff after 5000 coins? I'm currently somewhere
near 3000 and still haven't unlocked the B-Dasher & Barrel Train.. I would like
to get them (looks like B-dasher is supposed to be ~the best and Barrel Train
is very obvious why I want it xD),, but it would be a pain in the ass when I'm at
5000coins and still don't have them..
another mkwii thing,, which is better in a turn.. 2 blue MTs or 1 red? or does it just
depend on which turn? I guess it's the same as in mkwii but like I said, I'm not very
familiar with that game..
- You could be talking about drafting, which Mick touched on.
- Or, you could be talking about those sparks from performing a mini turbo. If you press the R button, your kart will hop, and on a good turn, you'll eventually see those blue sparks. The tighter the turn is, the faster the sparks come. It's a timed effort, unlike MKDD, which didn't have the hopping system. Plus, you don't have to turn the joy stick back and forth in this game.
- You unlock kart parts by collecting certain numbers of coins in Single Player or Online Play (the totals from each are combined into one number). Once you reach a certain number, you unlock a randomly selected kart part that you don't have yet. So it's hard to say exactly when you'll obtain the B Dasher or the good ole Barrel Train, but you will eventually once you reach 5000 coins (I've heard).

- Yes you do unlock more hidden goodies after 5000 coins, but let's keep that a secret.

- That really does depend on the turn. I just jumped into RLR and tested this out. I chose B Dasher, Slick Tires, and Metal Mario. I was also careful to avoid anything else that gives me extra speed. RLR has two large circle turns. On Lap 1, I performed one red mt on each circle turn. On Lap 2, I performed two blue mts on each circle turn. These are the times I got:
Lap 1 (two red mts): 42.213
Lap 2 (four blue mts): 43.295
... so I would conclude that these times are in the margin of error. I could've driven slightly worse on Lap 2, or the boost start could've helped Lap 1. I'd say they're close enough to allow me to say that Two Blue MTs = One Red MT.
Hopefully this helps. Let us know if you have any further questions.
