Are you going to the left or to the right of the middle pipe?

If you go to the right, I can't say much... find out a good moment to start shrooming, then try firing it earlier and earlier and earlier until you get to hug the pipe without hitting it. You shouldn't have problems with the other pipes.

If you are going to the left, no idea.

My PR (1'21"001) was set by going to the right, so at this point in the game there's no great difference yet, until someone discovers an efficient and "easy" way to go to the left.

With gold wheels it's not that hard to go left if you jump over the sand, then drift and shroom. Probably also better with those wheels since they are awful off-road.
With red monster wheels you should drive over it (very) briefly before using the shroom and release a red MT. I can try and make a vid tommorow, but it really is just about finding the angle for the wheels you're using, like it always is when you have to go between pipes in mk.

I actually experimented with a strategy to go inside the last two pipes as well, but drifting inside the second one of them seems pretty much impossible, I seem to crash on both that and the wall at pretty much the same time whenever I think I have it.

Edit: On a sidenote I have no idea how Nicola manages the times he gets by going to the right and even with the jump over strategy and red monster wheels... Still think you could destroy your time by going gold wheels and the jump and two blue MTs thing that I switched to. Tongue

Reply #7 - 12/10/11 at 16:01:40 Use red monster, have an angle going into it so that you're pointing more away from the finish line, then shroom a little bit after hitting the mud, and you should have a little leeway even then. Just rewatch Pierreponts vid over and over, or use Roy's strat, which I haven't really tried that much.

Not as good as Nicola's live run, but with a different strategy. My thumb was kinda greasy so i'm a little surprised I managed to do a decent full run, I just wanted to record one lap for the shroomspot Tongue

Ok, the "new" shroomspot I use for my time is really strange... I often miss it, and getting a decent one is also hard business.
The key lies in the angle you enter the grass at before shrooming. It's hard to describe it... I can only say for sure that I start turning a bit before entering the grass, then keep drifting all the time... sometimes you may need to countersteer a bit to avoid hitting the wall, but it's unlikely.
Also, try to shroom as late as possible: right before you lose the drift. This means, you get slowed down a bit when entering the grass, but it's healthy.

It's very hard but might be slighty faster than the WR strat. I can't tell yet.
