My new ghost on TC gets a mystery boost at the straight after first turn on lap 1 =/

Edit: Just did it again and I can't believe it, but it seems to work exactly like alaktorn said - tap left at the end of your boost... Except here it's from a zipper boost, guess zipper and startboost are the same just like in mkds where they both activated PRB. This game is fucking weird.

Actually starting to be able to get that mystery boost in said place in TC pretty often. It really seems to work, lol. Gotta wonder why it seemingly doesn't work with all zippers/startboosts now...

Do you guys ever notice that sometimes, when you land after a trick, instead of having a left drift you get a right drift? (and this especially if you were pressing R + left from the beginning of the jump)
It's really weird, as if right drift was the "neutral position" after a trick. I wonder if this has something to do with the mystery boost.

I get this (if I am understanding you right) at certain ramps usually, I get it on the ramp on DH right before the 1st goat turn, I end up landing and drifting right instead of going left with the turn, this has happened on a few other tracks also... it is very annoying :/

Sure that isn't just you guys pressing/releasing the original direction too early? This happens to people in all mariokarts.

Yeah this happened to me very often on the second ramp on DH when I tried to do a trick and a left drift at the same time.

@stelzig
I'm sure that I never pressed right/ released left during the whole jump, all the more since there is a left turn after the ramp. I even decided to change my strat because I couldn't avoid to have a right drift  Lips Sealed

Really, i'd recommend trying to release the button after you trick and press it down as you land. If it still happens to you then, then i'll believe you Tongue

and wow Stelzig, if pressing a direction at the end of a boost prolongs it… this game fucking sucks

edit: Stelzig here’s an idea: what happens if instead of tapping you hold it? did you try that? inb4 PRB

Where in the world did stelzig ever say that a trick boost is prolonged by pressing a certain direction?

It isn't true either.

Why can't you prove it?  Press any direction after doing a trick right before the boost ends for yourself. There is no reason whatsoever that would be faster and if you actually go try it, you don't get any extra boost.  I have no idea why you thought of something so random like that.

because it works for LR’s startboost, and TC’s zipper

those are the proven examples, but I don’t see why it would work only there, certainly there is more to it

I think it is the ground on certain spots on the tracks and not the boosts themselves, but that is just my theory.

Hmmm this might be what happened to me, I was racing LM and I noticed I was a good karts length in front of my ghost after the start boost for no reason at all (since we both got the same 'best' boost), and I had no idea how it happened.

It's only ever happened once, though.

Problem is, the kart seemingly doesn't even have to turn. I still have trouble believing it even works because it's so weird, but it really does seem like it makes me move faster than my ghost (or earlier, that my ghost would suddenly move away from me).

Well for what it's worth, on LR before the tunnel I seemed to get a mystery boost sometimes only when I would take to the right side of the track and drive straight a while after the 2nd red mt.  But the boost of that mt had already worn off for several seconds before I got the mystery boost.

I'll try and look more into it later today. Maybe I can make a vid where I drive at the same angle from the zipper and compare my distance/speed to the ghost. Smiley

I don't know if someone has already noticed that, but there're clearly two ways to do a mt, and there is one that actually save more time compared to the other.
I think many players are already playing with the "right way", but I discovered it yesterday and beat my time on TC by 0.8 in a few runs.

I mean the traditional way to make a mt is to "turn" and "jump with R" at the same time. But it saves really more time when you "jump", and then "turn" when the kart touch the road.. It's a subtlety but TC is a perfect reace to see the difference.

So I try to make the most of my MT in the "right way" and I beat all my time quicly since yesterday. (even If my time weren't that hard to beat  Smiley ) (got 1:21:4 on TC easily)

Does anyone see the difference ?

Note : Sorry for my english. Kiss

Most players have begun to notice this by themselves, but myself or someone else will probably soon post a description of basic game techniques so people newer to the game can get to grips quicker.

The one from sewers speedway is sorta already there, lol. Tongue (you need to ride the side of a pipe to get more speed in this game as well)
