Just a quick update. After taking the poll results into consideration and discussing with the other admins, we have decided to remove FLaps from the main rankings. However, those of you still wanting to compete for FLaps we will provide you a separate ranking. The main charts will be "3Lap" only but you can submit your FLap times as well.

I will keep the poll open and we can revisit this at a later date if necessary.

Of course they should! It's part of every MK game!
SMK also had difficulties with flaps but this wasn't a big issue for all the players.

I was shocked at not having flaps at first, but actually now thinking about it, I'd prefer not to have to bother going to the 2nd lap so many times only to fail at the first corner again.

I love flaps. I'll be shooting for them regardless of what's on the main charts because I believe there will still be competition for them.

The big problem I see is new players coming to the site having spent zero time trying to get good flaps. I see it turning out more like MKW (bad) than the other games.

There is no way that we should chart laps that are not logged into the actual game.  If you think we have had problems in other games with lying and cheating, it would only be 100x worse if we implemented something as stupid as this.  It would be akin to tracking BKS, which often results in times being submitted simply from memory or rounding the digits.  I can just imagine someone submitting a time like 25.55x and adding a random digit at the end of it.  The new members here wouldn't even think that this is wrong to do.  I can imagine someone being yelled at and accused and getting defensive...and really what can they even say, and what proof could possibly be provided at that stage?  None.  Not to mention all the cases of rounding and memory times submitted that we wouldn't even realize.  No way in hell should flaps be included in this game.  Tradition or not, it just isn't right and would open up a can of worms far too big for this community to handle.  We struggle through tooth and nail fights over one player and take months of debate and flip flopping judgements to come to a conclusion (Fenner).  This would be way way way worse and more involved with many problematic players and bad situations that would arise.

Jonesy, I hope you properly interpret the poll results. Remember that the first two options are just different versions of "No" and should be combined when figuring how many voted "No".

I wish we could have flaps on the main charts with no problems, but it's just not feasible. We have to choose what is best for the MK7 site, not necessarily what has been best for previous games. The argument that "we keep flaps on previous games so we should keep them in this game" is a poor one. Previous game carts held flap data. This is different.

People can just use video for proof when things get competitive... I really do not understand the problem, just sounds to me like laziness :/

Nintendo should implement the ability to save your run(any run) to a SD card, so you could just upload the run straight to Youtube. Sounds genius to me!

Not everyone had a camera when they improved their flap. It was my main problem when I wanted to improve my Wii MC Flap. The only possibility to prove it was the score at the end of a random run. But in MK7, There's no permanent flap score.

Especially the case on a portable game like this.  I doubt many people are going to haul around video cameras with them everywhere that they take their 3ds.


All i keep hearing from people here is the whole every game has it why stop now argument which is flawed entirely because until now every game saved flaps.
