I know people can easily fix their formats but there'll always be someone who needs reminding. Like making a comma after the year valid, or "23rd" or "Friday June 23" valid. It should be as simple as checking for 3 or 4 strings instead of just the 1.
I have thought about this too. My idea was to give in no date. And the updating program would pick automatically the date of today, with an option to change it manually (e.g. For site records this can be important). I personally can't make changes to the parser, only Alex and Jones can, I think.
Originally, the date format was created automatically by Yahoo groups, back in the days when everyone used Yahoo Groups to submit times. But after an update from Yahoo groups, it didn't use that format anymore so it became suddenly hard to update times, and then they started the times updating thread and abandoned Yahoo groups.
