MK7 needs more hype
09/01/11 at 12:50:41

Seriously, I am actually really looking forward to this game, and have really high expectations. I haven't played MKW in over a year because it stressed me out so much but I still enjoy a therapeutic MKDS session; there is something very relaxing about murdering your D-pad with broken MTs. While MK7 has self charge MTs, I think there will still be a heck of a lot strategy potential with the gliding and customisation and so on. MKW has stayed its course, and MKDS keeps me ticking over while I wait for another installment. I have become a kart obsessive.

Plus I still find myself drawn to the MKW board, but the quality of posting hovers around the 2.5-3.5/10 mark, certainly not a good level, hopefully this board flourishes.

I'm going to whore out this game so hard over christmas. Someone suggested a track editor, this is a feature I hope exists. I hope also that the wifi system has had a complete overhaul, but knowing Nintendo this is unlikely!

I didn't get hyped yet. I seriously don't know why... maybe it's because the 3DS is worse than the DS.  Undecided Haven't touched my 3DS for months.

My only issue with the 3DS is the battery life, but it's rumoured there could be new models next year so there is always the option of selling and rebuying is such a thing happens. Other than that, I think it's a quality bit of hardware. I am fascinated by the trailers that are currently on youtube, but the people playing are often semi retarded so I can't watch for to long or I'll go insane. I haven't played my 3DS for a while but that's just because OOT is the only game I have. It's not "pick up and play" like MKDS is.

I didnt buy the 3DS for the 3D I bought it for the games, ushc as MK7, I am soooo excited

I hope that I can get the game a day or 2 before the release date because an amazon.co.uk depot zone is where I live so sometimes Im allowed to pick it up early >=D

Also by getting it around the release date I hope to be high ranked on the charts and be able to give better advice than I can with the other 2 MK's I play Tongue

Like the above poster said, I think we still lack a certain number of news to be hyped enough, even with the playable demo (a first game for a kart game). Namely, we don't know the date release, the number of track, which games will be part of the retro, and basically any kind or glimpse of the online features.

Also, many people werd disappoint to see the MKW's mini-turbo system back, which is said to be the most uninteresting, and weren't convinced by the gliding driving, seen as a drawback from classic karting.

Nonetheless I'm still interested in getting the game even though I shouldn't jump on day one because of final exams...

Still 3 months away, I'm finding it hard to get hyped about it. Plus it's releasing after games I plan putting tons of time into(Dark Souls, Uncharted 3).

Maybe when more info is released, and it's closer to releasing I'll get onto the hype train.

I've never had an issue with the 3DS battery life, it's only bad if you use 3D setting at the max and have wi-fi on. Besides, if you're spending hours in one setting trying to get PR's or playing wi-fi, you're most likely at home aka where you have a charger. Tongue

Also, I highly doubt they'll release a new model anytime soon because they atleast need to sell all the 3DS systems that are in stores right now before they release a new model, and with 3DS sales the way they are now that's unlikely imo.

I'm interested in the game, but I don't know if I'll buy a 3DS at all. And if I do it'll probably be sometime in the second quarter of 2012 Undecided

This will be the first mk game that I will see from the start on this site. At first I wasn't too enthousiastic about it, but now I got myself a 3ds and I'm looking forward to it.

For the people concerned with the lack of info since E3, the official (partnered) 3DS blog on Youtube keeps on mentioning about the "nintendo 3DS conference" which is on the 13th on September and there is apparently a stream for it also, it is in japanese but there will be game trailers etc.

Sadly in GMT it will probably be early Tuesday morning and I have school :/

So yeah we can HOPE MK7 will be mentioned

I'm not having problems with battery life either, I keep 3d off basically all of the time, searched online to see why battery life drains so much in sleep mode - and found that I may aswell turn off spotpass, as it's almost useless, but I've left streetpass on (no hits yet obv.).
Also, turning your brightness down helps A Lot - except when you've had the setting at 1 while tt'ing BC Mkds for an hour before realising you keep failing because the track is shrouded in darkness  Smiley

i can't wait but real hype doesn't kick in until there's like 2-3 weeks remaining for the release date.

i hope the all-cup tour finally comes back. setting 32 vs races is just not the same.

Even with those things turned on it really isn't a problem. I can understand why some would like a longer battery life though, but how often do you use your handheld for 3+ hours without having had a chance to charge it? I think it's mostly just about getting into the habit of actually charging it/having the charger in while playing when you can. The stand that comes with console should help with this as well.
Even on the train, which would be the most common place for me to use it outside of a house, I can plug it in and not waste battery if i'm concerned about it.

The only way I'd imagine myself being hyped was if the control was actually good and judging by the poor 3ds hardware and control issues I have no desire for the game.  It seems to be just as bad in comparison as playing mkds on a mush ds-lite d-pad with sticky trigger buttons, aka very little control.

I'll probably be getting the game, maybe early so I can try to compete near the top.

Well, almost everyone wants to fight for top positions, the hardest thing is to have enough consistency to keep up.

By the way, i haven't touched my 3DS for a while too, but SM3DS and MK7 imho are going to turn on the lightspot on 3DS instead of the good ol' DS

With all of these new footage and info released, I finally got round to pre-ordering MK7 just now, at £33 on Amazon, + £2 to get it on release day, so I hope the price won't go down now Smiley (the lowest I saw it at while repeatedly browsing the bookmarked page over recent months was £29 last week)
