I've noticed that viewing someone's profile takes a long time to load, whereas the rest of the site runs just fine. It's not a huge problem, but I figured it should be pointed out.

Well looks like it's fixed. Ninjas at it again.  

When you load a user's profile, the site needs to find the last post you made.  Guess how well they implemented that.  I'll give you a hint: when the forum has more posts, it takes longer  :'(

I think we looked at it a little and determined if you have a recent post in every (even closed) board category, your profile will tend to load faster. Not sure if we ever checked into that though.

There's no database  , <3, etc etc

In text files. One file per topic, one line per post.  A+ for effort but a bit behind the times. YaBB is still in Perl+txt files, some people changed it to PHP+MySQL and call that SMF now.

Anyway I tied shadow's wrists to his keyboard for 10 minutes so we could remove the time consuming part of loading profiles.

Most modern forums use db of course.  At least this way the forums don't go down every time the kart sites do   Then who would be able to whine.
