Its a bit silly that my time is still so far ahead on the charts compared to the second place time, so I'd like to see peoples performances on this course improve.

So here's the challenge:

Sub 29 seconds on RKB1 5lap and record it. That's it, nothing else, just sub 29 with a video of the replay.

Here's the catch... I know most of you won't do it for no reason. So I thought of this concept. Ever wanted to make another gamer play through 'Hello Kitty Island Adventure' as a joke? Well now you have a chance of making me play through silly games like that and put it up for public eyes to see.

If you sub 29 seconds, leave a message in this topic with a name of a game you would like me to play all the way through with me recording it. For purposes of this topic, it can be ANY game on the NES (so long as it has an ending), SNES, GBA, and DS, or any easily accessible PC game (or a PC game I already own on my Steam account: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197990973763/games?tab=all )

I will play through the game in its entirety over time, prioritizing the people who complete the challenge first.

As an additional bonus, if you sub 28 5lap with video proof, I will play through 2 games of your choice.

I'll leave this challenge running until the 25'th of June. So pull out those GBA's and get wet and wild on RKB1 while you have the chance!

You didn't mention that lap-skips were forbidden, so that must mean that they are allowed, right ?

It is relatively badly executed, but you get the idea...

First off I'd like to apologize for not having the video up yet as promised. Exam time is really drilling into me, and I've been really busy coding 2 different game assignments. Not much time to myself lately. I WILL have the videos up as promised however, just can't set a day until after exams.

As for the low 1 shroom lap times...

The strat for low 4"2x-4"4x times is pretty much the same in my 27"66 video. Not a whole lot has changed, the only real difference is how tight your shroom goes and when you use it. When you use your shroom has a LOT of impact on how fast your lap is. My sub 4"20 time however I had something weird happen where I was able to go into a waterslide after landing on deep water, making me get my top speed a little bit faster. I haven't been able to replicate it, which is why I said in the best splits post that it was pretty much luck.

Mick uses a different method of going over the second deep water area. I've personally found it to be slower than my 27"66 video method, but you can still hit 4"50's with it at a relatively consistent level.

I played with Mick's strat today, and improved my best splits with it. Now my lap 1 best split is 5'23 with Matt's strat (can be improved by about '05), and 5'12 with Mick's strat (can be improved by about '10). I can't talk about lap 2 and 3 splits, since I never complete them...

So, my guess is that Mick's strat is indeed faster. I tend to complete more laps with it too. The problem is, I'm extremely inconsistant with it (most of the time, either I clip the water on last turn, either my shroom wears off too quickly). On average, I'm at least '30 faster with Matt's strat. Still, I guess that I'll continue using Mick's strat to improve my completing odds...

Also, just to be sure, making it over the water on last turn with Matt's strat is pure luck, right?

This track is weird. I was in a horrible session, never getting past lap 1, and suddenly, something clicked, I started smashing my former best splits, and finishing most of my laps. I think that I slightly changed the angle of my shroom.

The result so far: a 28'90 (splits: 5'26 4'52 5-02 7-25 6-85)

It's still extremely inconsistent, but it is a #3 and a sub 29.

Now I have to set up my new video equipment to capture it. I hope that won't make me lose the "thing" that made everything work, so that I can smash that PR once I get back to the track!

Desert Bus and Rogue!  That should keep you busy for the next few years   I don't like making people play bad games, but you made people play rkb1, so I guess it's deserved. I'll think about it, and post my real game choices along with my video.
