We have been discussing with Nivek about how the SMK site was the only one which required a full timeset to be accepted on the charts.
What do you think about the idea of applying the same rule to the future MK3DS site ? Or maybe, putting as flaps the 3laps divided by 3 for those who really don't bother making flaps (thinking about Japanese players here). That way people will stop complaining a bit about how unrepresentative the main chart will be, and we wouldn't have to do a 3lap only chart like in MKW.
It could also depends about how Nintendo will consider flaps in that game (will we ever get a way to see our flaps anymore ? or on the other side will we get online flap charts ?)

My personal favourite is the way it's done on MK64. Rank all times which the player hasn't submitted a score for as worst on the site. This means that the player will have to submit all scores to earn a high rank, and it might help to entice people to submit a full timesheet.

There are debates against this too, because some people just submit good scores and leave the rest.

Personally, I dislike the idea of dividing the 3lap time by three. I don't like fake times on the site, even if the person is certain to have a faster time than the one used.

For me, the SMK system is clearly the best. You just need to do a little effort on your first message ( all the 3 laps and the flaps) and after you are free to play the races you want.
The mkwii rank is the best example of how ridiculous the current system can be.

For mk64, I don't think it's better. In some areas you can find a mix of players with a full timeset and others that sent less than half of their times Undecided

How about a system where the players' names are stored when they join the site along with what times they submitted, but their times aren't shown anywhere until they submit a full time sheet. Clicking a player's name causes a screen to come up that says what times the player still needs to submit for their records to count.

That might be a bit over-complicated though.

^This, also i like how on your profile on the MKWII board you can click e.g. the rank heading and all your times appear in ascending or descending order, it makes it a lot easier to see your weaker or stronger times. I think this can be done in the order of standards also I think
