3. I withheld a shortcut from the Kart community since 1997. This shortcut would have literally halved the World Records in its day. It would have had a deep impact on the community and stirred up some unnecessary controversy, so I decided it was best not to unveil it. This was the right decision... for 1997. Now it is 2010. The impact is nowhere near as significant now, and this should have been unveiled in more recent years.

If people are so fuused then why don't they compare the 1997 wr's with those of today and see which ones have nearly halved???
Personally I'm of the opion that everyones getting far too upset that someone else has found a way to cheat at a video game and won't tell. Can't people be happy to just drive the tracks how they were intended?

He said he would unveil it at the Karter meet. I'm very curious about it too, because it's on the course you would least likely expect. Any guesses? Smiley

Sorry for the double post, but it needed to be said.

Wonn, I got your KD fence glitch on vid.

I just watched your vid, and I appreciate that you are trying to recreate my early '97 fluke. Kalimari Desert has several places where you can go from the outside of the fence to the inside, as you did in the vid. However, the fluke shortcut that I did involved going from the inside (on the train tracks) to the outside (back to the desert.)

As for the other mystery fluke shortcut, yes, it will be revealed at this year's meet in Virginia.

Yeah, I understand that in order for it to be useful you would have to do it on the inside of the track. The point of the vid was just to show the actual going through the fence and proving it was possible on vid.

Yes, you demonstrated the way it looks very well. In the desert, there are many changes in elevation that make the glitch easier. However, from the inside of the track, it is still not known how it happened, although the part of going through/over the fence itself looked similar to the way I remember it. Laps will be in the 20s if it is ever perfected.

In the case of my fluke, it could have been a combination of a few worst case scenarios at the same time. For instance, the train may have been loaded into memory, slowing the frame rate slightly, while I had gone through just the right spot where some polygons met (think DKJP lap skip.) Anyway that's just one theory on how it happened. I unfortunately could not save the ghost since I had already spent too much time on the track (as was the case with my other fluke.) Otherwise, I would have mastered the fluke shortcuts long ago, since studying my ghosts to death was how I became so proficient at shortcuts back in the day....

Did you use a shroom? And were you sliding? Do you know the approximate spot you were at?

Since it happened in March or April 1997, my memory of the Kalimari fluke is somewhat fuzzy. I don't think I used a shroom, though I may have been sliding. Regardless, I tried both with and without shrooms in later attempts. It wasn't terribly far from where you exit the tunnel, probably no more than the full length of the train away.

If you do manage to recreate it, please try to save the ghost run. This will be essential in solving the age-old mystery.

I can only record replays as I have no controller pack for the N64. Undecided
