My round 2 match is approaching (tonight), and first off, I would like to say a formal thanks for sending me through round 1. I am honored to make top 96 out of thousands within a year of joining. Now, I face Dave Smith in what will be a close match. (I hope). When you cast your vote, I challenge you to consider your vote carefully. Whether or not I make it through to round 3, I want the voting to be done right.

For this reason, I am not making any promises or rewards for my voters, since Dave Smith doesn't seem to be making a campaign. (However, I did make a round 1 promise. If you voted for me round 1, please PM me, and I will be glad to fulfill my covenant. To receive your reward, you must only tell me what your due reward is.)

And, if you are reading this Dave, I would like to wish you good luck, no matter what happens. Congratulations on making round 2. You must be a pretty cool guy.

To sum up, when you go to the polls this fine evening, I ask that you contemplate before you click. The match is going to be close, and every vote will count. Until next time...

In principal not. Something has a shadow if it blocks light; a shadow does not block light, it is merely the absence of light.

Suppose however that you have a material which becomes more transparent if more light is shed on it (there are materials that do the opposite). If someone's shadow is casted on this material, it would leave a 'dark spot'. If now another light source is pointed at the material, its light would - by the material's suggested property - be absorbed more by the dark spot. This dark spot, caused by a shadow, would therefore cast a shadow, and you could stand in it. This would however not be a very embarrassing situation.

Haha, thanks TvL. Mostly, in the post, I was trying to use a play on words. To be in someone's shadow is to be behind their status, whether that be popularity, accomplishments, or anything.

To explain further:

If someone has an older brother, for example, who is succeeding greatly in school, sports, and social activities, most people forget about the younger brother. That younger brother will feel like he needs to live up to "big bro's" standards. He is living in the shadow of his big brother.

Because of the group I'm in, I feeel like I am literally, in Shadow's "shadow". This would be "embarrassing" because not only am I in one person's shadow, I'm in a "double" shadow. Grin

But I liked the explaination you gave. I'm always interested in physics. Smiley

Not much; I'm leaving that mostly up to the trust factor. Also, I can count the number of PMs I get to the number of votes I got, and if it exceeds the number... nobody gets any video. Especially since not everyone will PM me.

Either way, I don't mind whether they actually voted for me or not, it would still be a fun thing for me to do.
