Scoring system

I have opted for the same system as two years ago:

Group stage

Predict the results of the 48 group matches. A correct prediction gains you 5 points. If you're only correct about which team wins (or tie), you get 2 points.

Example:
Team A - Team B: 1-0

Prediction	Points
1-0	5
2-0	2
1-1	0
0-1	0

Knockout stage

Predict the results of the knockout matches (when the teams are known). Your prediction will be compared to the result after full time; this includes extra time but excludes goals from a penalty shootout.
A correctly predicted tie gives one extra point (since ties are less likely when including extra time). If you predicted a winner and this team wins on penalties, you get 1 point.

Example:
Team A - Team B: 1-1 (Team A wins on penalties)

Participate

Send me your predictions for the group matches (the knockout matches will follow later). For my ease, and to minimize the probability of mistakes, please use this form. Fill in your predictions, hit the "Create message" button and send the result in a PM to me. Once I've processed your predictions, I'll send you a PM back with an overview of your predictions, for you to check and store. (The form requires Javascript but appears to be working fine on all (modern) browsers. Try the "Create message" button first to make sure it works.)
Alternatively, you can use the textfile version on this site, but since this means I'll have to manually enter your predictions, please use the form if you can.

Please include your real name; I want to use names rather than pseudonyms.
Also, make sure you enter your predictions the right way around! Quite a lot of people made mistakes two years ago.
After sending your predictions for the group stage in, you may still change some, but only until the start of the World Cup. There will be no more changes after that.


Deadline: One hour before the start of the first match (South Africa - Mexico starts Friday June 11th, 14:00 GMT).

Just sent mine, even though I amn't that well up on what teams are in form... I guessed quite low score-lines in most games, so I should fluke a few anyway.  

Three things I'd like to point out:

After you've sent in your predictions, you may still change some if you like, but only until the start of the tournament! After the start, there will be no more changes. This includes results which you may have accidentally put down the wrong way around, so be wary of this!

When I get your PM, I will put your predictions in my system and send a PM back. Also, your name will be added in the list in the first post. If neither has happened, then either I haven't been to the MB yet (I will be checking the MB a few times per day), or your PM didn't arrive for some reason. If you suspect the latter is the case, check your outbox and/or leave a post here, so that I can confirm or deny that I got it.

Keep in mind that this pool also includes the knockout stage, for which I will ask your predictions when the matches are known, so you'll be sending in predictions (at least) four more times. More about that when the time comes.

Just one more day left!
Of course there are many people out there waiting till the last moment, in case there comes news of injuries or such which could influence their predictions...

Let me remind you that the deadline is one hour before the start of the first match; I need some time to set everything up and get myself installed in front of the TV!

Yeah my other account is Zootman X, I can't login into this one with my PC lol. My middle names Austin so I've been using that as its cooler.  

And so it begins! 32 teams and 25 people in an epic battle for eternal glory...
Interestingly, two people claimed that their predictions are 100% accurate, yet they disagree on a lot of matches.

Well, just two matches played and we already have a clear leader 5 points ahead of the rest of the field! Ivo got both results bang on.
Along with Ivo, there were five others who had put down 1-1 for the first match, but amazingly, none of them predicted a tie for the second (Benoit is still the man of course, but not on this occasion). In fact, the only other player to have predicted two ties was Paul, but with quite a few goals more. Florent joined the five co-winners of South Africa - Mexico by predicting 0-0 for Uruguay - France.

Tomorrow we start with three matches a day, so a good chance for Ivo to score 15 points!
