Not sure if you understand what this is... Round 1 of predictions is totally separate from the rest of the game. It is too complicated to predict the entire bracket at this point because of the way 2v3 matches will happen. Because of that, we will predict the entire bracket after the completion of Round 1 and before Round 2 starts. These Round 1 predictions are simply to supplement your score by giving you "bonus points" for picking the winner of each 4some. These do not have any bearing on your later predictions, the score you earn here (max of 32) will simply be added to your total score from the rest of the predictions.
If the contest were set up differently and we simply picked four out of 8 in Round 1 (what we're doing, in effect, with R1 and R2 combined), we would have a max score of 64 points for the round. Instead of that approach, the contest format gives the players a second round shot, but the matchups aren't straightforward to predict since we don't know who will face who, even if we did predict all the 1st place finishers perfectly. So by doing these first round predictions first, then predicting the entirety of the contest after that, as it will be all 1v1 matches from that point on. The way this is going to work, the max score per round will be 32/32/64/64/64..., because we're basically splitting the 1st round in half.
If you still don't understand I don't know what to say...picking the loser just seems mean and silly and would probably be harder than picking the winners. Good luck
