A few questions.
05/13/10 at 03:38:55

I'm thinking about getting this game(if I can find it first), and I want to know a couple of things.
What's the best kart to start with(say I haven't unlocked anything yet).

Also, which track should I practice MT's and other stuff?

Well you should play GPs first and unlock barrel train and toad kart, which is nearly as good as barrel train. I think the bullet bill kart is also good (see Richard's MB flap with it!) but I can't remember if that kart is unlocked in the beginning.

no, bullet bill must be unlocked, but i also don't know how ^^
oh and robert: toad kart is NOT as good as the barrel train. it's just as good as barrel train on DK mountain Wink

for practising: just drive some GPs at the beginning... just try to get everywhere 40 points (or 160 in the all cup tours). of course you don't have to^^ if you ant to practise MTs: go on Baby Park, it's the best course for MTing IMO. for A-Tech you should drive on Mushroom Bridge or on Peach Beach :]

I didn't say it was as good as Barrel Train, I just said it wasn't much worse.

Yo Peachy: First play to unlock the Barrel Train, then once you've unlocked it, just use that!  Practice MTs on all courses, as every MT is different.

Bugger... unless I can find it in a second hand store, I'm not getting it. Screw Ebay.

I started using Toad Kart even with Barrel Train, and found it easier to hit some low-level PRs. However the two handle very differently, and although I know the BT is much better I can't beat any of my PRs with it now since I'm so used to Toad Kart. I would suggest never using the Toad Kart unless you are looking for a great time on DKM, otherwise stay away.

if you don't use A-Tech, there's a less difference between TK and BT. BT has just the advantage that you can use a-tech with it, but TK cannot. and the MT length is also (almost?) the same... in things of speed they are both the same.. maybe that's not right, but when i drivw with TK i feel that it has the same speed like BT...

Seriously... how to slide in DD?

I played a lot of Mario Kart 64 and when i bought MarioKart DS i was able to slide at the same day..

Now i tried Doubledash (in my shame on an emulator cause i want to test it before i buy a Gamecube) but i cant handle the car. The control is really strange if i press the button for slide (L or R?!) my car most times "break out" that means i cant finish the slide (for example i press left+L, hold L, and move the stick slowly from the left to the right etc.).

Sometimes it works but i cant see any structure it seems like it is just luck .. nothing else...
