You can see the names if you go to the search function, and that makes no difference. I guess it wouldn't hurt to allow you to see the member list as well, as long as I tell it to hide registration times, but I don't see any reason to bother. You'll be able to tell who's playing and who's not by looking at the topic. Guess I'll probably open up the member list once the game starts.
