I want a ghost which is better sooner i.e. has an excellent lap 1. That way if I can keep up I have a better chance of gaining afterwards.

Sometimes though, I do find that racing without any ghost interuption is better, depending on the track !

Exactly. I could never race a ghost on tracks like MC3 or BC64, but I definitely do on tracks like RR and MT.

In all honesty, Nobuo gains about 0.080 on me at the end. My PR first lap was 26.233 though

Before doing it I couldn't get sub-1:20 and sub-55 at all, it's kind of annoying having your ghost in the way the majority of the race. For the other tracks it depends. Sometimes I do it, sometimes I don't, it depends whether my PR ghost has fatal flaws or not.

Most of the time not racing ghosts. Else using only WR ghosts except for SGB and MH when I'm racing my own ghost (no better references for those strats...).
I use ghosts mainly in the purpose to see at which spots am I losing time on the track.
The only time I ever remember having PR'ed with a ghost was on MH (when I took the WR from auto noobs with my new strat). Usually ghosts put too much pressure for last lap...
