George enters the fray!

righto, im hunting down a copy of mksc after scoring a brand new gb micro for $10 from work

my question is, do the different consoles (gba, sp, micro, ds) have a noticable effect on kart driveability - my bro has a ds, and if the micro aint the way to go, ill try and coax him into giving me his ds for a month or 7 Tongue

i know it probably means nada to my learning curve since ive barely played but still  Roll Eyes

I don't think it make a big difference for driving, outside the fact you can't play in the dark with a standard GBA Tongue (there may be issues with ZZMT's that I ignore though...)
For instance, look at the top 4 : Seb plays with a standard GBA, Pierre and Yunus with a GBA SP, and me with a DS.
However I don't know how good in the GB Micro, never got it... You may give a try with another handheld to compare if you can.

I played a lot with a GBA SP, a DS and a DS lite.
There are no difference after being used with the controls.
I have some doubt on playing with the micro for long sessions, unless you have small hands.

Exactly. The main thing is that you have first to get used to the console you use. But it doesn't affect at all the kart speed or anything else.  Wink
Btw, I have played once with the micro and I think the screen and the console in itself are far too small to succeed to do anything. And I'm sure it's still more expensive than a GBA SP so you'd better buy a GBA SP if you have the choice.  Tongue

Edit: the ZZMT is much easier to establish on the GBA than on the DS but I guess you don't have a good enough level to think about that yet. lol

first and last turn of the track, the kart does what i assume is a mt (more like a fart...), need some pointers on this one please...

i know this is common knowledge for all you pros, but not for me and im veteran enough to be excused from searching for the answers  Smiley

yes these are mt's,  basically pressing r + right or left for about 180° and when the kart is straight again you get a mt (releasing r while shrooms and mt's are active)

i hope that helps for the beginning

A better PC strat for beginners is this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9-6zqUwU04

It's just a bit slower than the other one, but it's way easier and allow you taing confidence with the huge intertia of the Bowser kart.

Start with it, then add one offroad MT in the last corner of each lap.
Leave the offroad MT a the beginning as last tech to learn Wink

It took me more than a year to do great drifts and good boosts for that game but I was playing this game alone (= without going on the internet to see vids or anything) And I practised a lot, but I wouldn't have practised that much if I didn't came into the PP because I would never have known that it existed  Tongue
I only discovered it because Luca advised me to enter the community.

Thanks for posting that. I should use that. My PC time is rather poor.

Edit: Can you help explain the best way to get the last MT to delay long enough to be used on the last turn? I thought I had a method (just pushing left+right+left+right for however long it took) but that is causing my kart to spin out every time on this turn.

The basic idea is avoid going straight and you can do it releasing the R button and driving zig zag or just tapping left (or right) fast enough.
If it happens you are spinned out, then it means you have charged the MT too much and you keep turning after that.  You can avoid it in many ways (starting sliding later, splitting a long slide in two shorter slides, ... )
