I've only just arrived home after an uneventful day of school. At first I thought I wasn't playing, then I read on and saw that I have been included in the mix.
This is basically shaping up to be an abbreviated version of IRC Mafia, but on a forum. How intense! I think we need to cool off for a few seconds here and think about why we're voting for Tom.
Tom hasn't paid attention to the topic at all, his last vote was on Syzygy, who isn't even a player in this game. That is terrible! At least we know it's not one of his mafia buddies :p Haha!
So as it stands, the ratio is 4 townie to 1 mafia. With this ratio it's more likely that we kill a town on Day 1 than not.
I would GREATLY appreciate it if any moderator that has access would please remove the posts from Syzygy, Adam L, and anyone else who unlawfully posts in this topic. Those posts are misleading and confusing, making the game nearly impossible to follow. Because every post can be scanned in only a minute or so, we have to be able to do it confidently.
Keep in mind, guys, we have THREE DAYS to finish this, don't get all in a hurry about voting for someone. Just randomly killing off Tom is bad for the game in many ways!
First off, it ends the day without getting a good read on anyone. Currently, he's only one vote shy of being KOed, which would be devastating. He's sleeping right now, you know!
Let's give him a chance by not completing the vote on him. I would vote for some other candidate, but no one has provided much input yet.
Darius has sent me a specific challenge, I have to prove that I'm both a townie, and not insane. I will try to do that now.
Darius, I am a townie this game as evidenced by the role PM I received from Benoit this morning at 9:06:38am. I received two PMs before that, one saying I was townie, and one saying I had been removed from the game to make room for Darius. The third PM stated I was a townie in the new round and Ben said he was sorry for the mix-up. I was actually somewhat surprised to get these PMs, because I thought it might be another day before this mafia game started up.
Enough with proof of townie status, now I'll go on to show that I'm not insane.
I am in a clear mind right now as I type this. There are no distractions other than the frantically moving animated smilies that appear below the posting box as I type in my response here. I just got home from a day of school where I did nothing most of the day, as always. I was able to take a math test, only an hour or so ago, with no problems at all, today. I had several conversations with people of various intelligence levels throughout the day. I think this shows that I am not insane and I am competent and ready to play the game of mafia.
I now reverse the question upon you: Darius, why do you think I should prove myself to be "no longer insane," was I insane at some point in the past or are you trying to make me look worse to the other players here?
On another note, the most active poster so far this game has been Tom. His posts have included accusations and pleas for extreme action. After Syzygy posted, Tom was inflamed that someone had posted a vote with no reasoning, without taking the time to realize the player wasn't even in the game. He kind of made a fool out of himself right there. Also, there is no reason any player in a five-person mafia game should ask for a modkill in this situation. If the poster was the mafia member, it would take two more voters to kill him, and if the poster was not the mafia member, it's likely the person asking for a modkill is. Just seemed really stupid to me.
As far as voting goes, at this point I think we should avoid lynching anyone. I'll refrain from voting at all, at this point, but Sunday I plan to change my vote to No Lynch a few hours before the deadline. This will ensure we play out the entire Day as long as we can, and do not kill a townie in the process. If everyone contributes well during Day 1, we should be able to easily identify the mafia depending on who he kills. There aren't too many people to accuse, you know! I'm afraid if we lynch someone right now and they end up being town, we'll be too far behind to catch up, as it's a short game. Be extra careful now, and we can help to guarantee a victory in the end. This may require the loss of one or two town members, and if we vote No Lynch, it will be a loss of only one, which is the best situation.
And, following the above plan gives this topic the best lasting "

" value possible
