I've been going to alot of other forums recently and seeing alot of cool features there, and I've been thinking about implementing (stealing) some of these systems and putting them on our forums. And I'd like to hear the input of the community as well as their suggestions.

1.) A Spoilers tag - A spoilers tag is found on alot of manga forums, to hide a certain portion of text, and you would be able to see the text at your leisure by simply clicking the "open" option. It has more uses than simply hiding spoilers though. It can add flavor to post, etc.

2.) A reputation system - I'm iffy about this, a reputation system is basicly as it sounds. It might make some posters strive to be better or what have you.

3.) On Starmen.net they have a thumbs up, thumbs down system, basicly shitty post get thumbs downed, while good post get thumbs uped. etc. This could be used to caculate reputation.  

4.) Titles - Some forums have titles, similar to "emblems, below". We have this option but we don't utilize it to it's fullest potential.

5.) Emblems - I think this is a good way to show peoples creditionals. basicly, it works the same way it does on starmen.net, you get an "emblem" underneth your avatars titles, and it's in the form of a small picture, for instance,

I won player of the year for 2004 in mk64, I would get a little mario emblem or something.

Or

I donated 200$ to the site so I get a money symbol in the color gold, or silver if i donated 50$, so on and so forth.

Also, winners of competitions such as karters contest, or "karter mafia" would also get emblems for winning and participating.

6.) Microphone input - I'm not sure if this is possible, this is entirely new, basicly, record an audio sample through a microphone, and it would show up as a imbedded media in your post. You wouldn't have to write, you could simple speak. I've spoken to alot of karters in this community over the phone and microphone already.

6.) The ability to have your forum name be a picture, only one rule to this, the picture must include your name in it.

7.) Have the option to have our name a different color or something... bleh, now i'm just running dry.

These are just a few suggestions, anyone got others?

2.) sounds like an idea, as long as it's given out by people in charge. that way you need to behave in the eyes of those in charge.
3.) thumbs up/down sounds abusable. Most people won't care, while some spammers might keep thumbing up theirs and their buddy spammers' posts, and thumbing down posts of people they don't like. And those people they don't like might not care enough to balance it out. It might work for a really big forum with thousands of people reading a topic, but probably not here.
4.) we have post-count rankings and you can write your own text beneath your name, which acts like a title. I have "I play in 70Hz". The space is not much, but you can put something there.
5.) "emblems" sounds a lot like a sig, except under your name. well, why not just use the sig for those things? you can say things like "MK64 POY 2004" in your sig, if you want. And can include pictures.

Whatever Lacey did (I didn't do it!) might be possible for other mods, too. I haven't looked into it myself. The admin part of the website doesn't work properly in either of my two browser, so I can't use that part of the site.

You can adblock those images after the first time you load them. Simple.

Wouldn't mind the layout bit there, only thing those are good for is to see the current username of the 4 people who ended those topics
