I've been talking to Honky the last few days and he would like to host a series of live mafia games over IRC in the near future. We want to get a guage of possible attendance figures and find out if there is enough interest. There are many ways to use IRC, and if we have the interest, I can (or many others here) help you get a working client and get connected. For most of you it is as simple as loading the website http://irc.wrvids.com , which will bring you right to kart-town on IRC. We did a demo game with about 9 people the other day, and it went really well. Some participants included Adam L, Matt Ellis (karterfreak), and myself! Ivo, who made the other mafia topic, also has been in there wanting to get this going. Just post here with your thoughts and if you would be interested in this.

As an example, the game we played the other day had 5 minute days and 2 minute nights, and it took less than 30 minutes to play the entire thing. There were somewhere between 100 and 300 lines spoken by the contestants in this short game where the mafia won quickly. If we got this going, it'd be played at a set time determined in a topic, and we'd likely schedule multiple events, maybe every couple days.

I don't have the bot or a script yet, but if we get some real interest here I'll set one up. If this is gonna be a common thing then using the bot makes more sense than someone trying to run everything manually.

If someone else wants to run them too, just let me know, I'll give you channel access (unless you're ugly).

I'm a bit put off by the complete lack of interest on this one. All the fellows who seem to be having a great time playing in the other topics must not realize that this is even more fun. Maybe if I posted the entire log of our previous game they would get the idea what kind of fast-paced all-out fun this is.

For those who don't know, IRC/Chat mafia is much more fun than forum mafia, as it's much more fast paced, and requires you to think alot quicker about who has what role.

Notes: I really messed up big time at the very start with a corny fake townie message, it happened before Robin even gave out the roles, as I thought we weren't even CLOSE to starting, but the way it turned out, he was giving out the roles right then, so that was a major negative on my game right from the start. I'm quite sure most of the others there had played this before in a chat setting, but I never had. It was good fun.

Okay guys, Robin's just informed me that we'll be holding a special session of this LIVE IRC MAFIA GAME in three hours. Anyone that can make it can direct their browsers to http://irc.wrvids.com OR their IRC clients to #mariokart on irc.gamesurge.net ..... From there we will help get everyone ready to play the game. It's great fun and everyone that can come, just post in here right now so we can get an idea of how many players we'll have.
