You were pretty vauge there. Care to elaborate on what you're talking about?

I know what this is.

Each person selects the character they want to use, then unselects them, after that, you go back to the previous screen, and then back to the character select screen. The game remembers which character you had seleced most recently, so if everyone selected -> unselected funky, then went back to the previous screen and then back to the character select screen, everyone would be on funky.  

You aren't supposed to be able to select the same character as someone else. AKA, glitch.

yeah ANYTHING that a game goes which was not intended by the programmers is a glitch! if u wanna argue the degree of importance influence or how big of a glitch it is than by all means do so. but to dismiss it as not being a glitch is just....well....ignorant.

Btw i think this should be one glitch that should be allowed in tournaments as its BS that one person can have an advantage over another. id even go as far to say other players must allow the glitch to happen if both want the same character.
