Fewest points for a GP championship?

What's the lowest point total you have gotten in a MK Wii Grand Prix while still managing to take 1st place overall?

I just won the Special Cup on 150cc with 35 points (1st @ DDR, 9th @ MH, 2nd @ BC, 7th @ RR) vs. 35 for Yoshi and 34 for Mario and Luigi.  Rank E of course... Smiley

After the last race, I walked away thinking I'd lost, and then I came back and I was like 1ST PLACE LOLZWTF?

On MKWII? I won with 51 points, on special 100cc while using the wheel i got 1st,1st,1st and 7th and won by 1 or 2 points. It was 51 or 50 I ended with, Can't really remember but I got E rank as well.

Rank E is pretty drastic considering you got 1st on the first 3 races.  Huh

I remember it was a challenge to get an E in mkds. It would usually give you a C if you did horribly.

How above the other side of the coin?  I got third place with 46 points.  The two players above me tied with like 47 or something.

Aren't the ranks based solely on your total time?

Not at all.  Ranks are based on your points (you pretty much need 60 to get 3*) and how much you fell off the course/drove offroad/hit walls.  You can drive like shit but as long as you stay on the road the whole time and get 1st every race you will get 3 stars.

On my first GP ever of MKW, I got first place in all four races, most by a large margin, and only got an A.  What's the ruling?

You drove in grass, hit walls, fell off the course, etc.

Having gotten at least 2 stars on all the cups I can safely say that stars are not necessarily reflective of your points. I got a 2 star rank with 53 points. The ranks are definitely more influenced by your overall times.

It goes (from hardest to easiest): NTSC -> Gallo NTSC -> Australian PAL -> English/Irish PAL -> Dutch PAL. Everyone knows that.

Wow, unfortunately, I think you're exactly right.  I have atleast 2 stars on every cup and I had been having trouble getting 3 stars.  As soon as I read this post, I got 3 stars on three (150cc) cups in a row.  I just made sure not to drive off the course (even to cut corners) and pretty much just drove in the middle of the course.  I don't think I finished with my best times...

Too bad your times for each course aren't shown at the end, that would make it easier to compare times.  However, it does seem that staying on the course is the most important thing.  Because I've had some absolutely stellar races (in terms of speed) that have not resulted in three stars, but when I concentrated on staying in the middle of the course is when I got three stars.
