I'm talking about time trials, where by definition you're already wasting a lot of hour perfecting your practice. It's no good if you lose more time just to re-adjust to using the different vehicle as well.
Quite true... I may have been unclear in my argumentation.
Still, without the funny "I beat this dude with my sneaky preparation" thing, I find it quite funny to have different gameplays on different tracks. It gives more variety in the game (so more combination and preparation for the TT also), more surprise in multiplay (a crappy car can be a killer on some track), let people specialize on different parts of the game (rallye style specialist, high speed specialist...).
I like to compare it with Gran Turismo 4... I used to play with a friend, who is great on rallye with PS2 controller, and I was specialized on pure race courses with a Logitech wheel. We used to play in turn, having fun with this different types of gameplay. The best races where the one where both racing cars or rallye cars could be good, where we could compete on time trial with the last car we got, trying various settings... ha, wanna play this game again !

Not sure I've been clearer, but anyways : I like well-balanced variety

. That's what makes a game like Starcraft still rock in Korea after 10 years.
