I was 1st with a 1'39. 2nd got 1'41.

I led from 11am - 5pm. Everyone was talkng about me and trying to talk to me, even staff were trying to talk to me also I heard comments in the background like "that's the guy who is 1st". I was just playing it down telling them it's not over yet but they were saying no-one will beat that time. I wasn't put under a lot of pressure so probably could have beat my time if needed. I felt that was a big enough gap as I was watching most of the day.

No-one came close to my time after i got my fastest after my 3rd attempt. After a few hours i started messing on and was only playing to stop the people in my race from getting fast times. I was starting to do tricks. The wheel isn't very good and the mts were so hard. I managed to do a few near the end after I saw a guy doing them and thought he could beat me, but he didn't. There were a few with big mouths thinking they could beat it but gave up after a few attempts.

At the end some japs came in and I thought "shit" but they didn't take part and only watched.

I'm happy as I get to play the game for a whole day now before the finals. I get a copy of mkwii (I'll already have a copy so it will go to my youngest brother), £250 to spend at that mercedez place where the final is and I get to take someone with me to the final (my girlfriend as she sat all the way through). All paid for

Concrats Paul. I know that feeling, waiting the whole day long for your time/score to be #1. the first time I played a compo was at a local store. It was Starfox/Starwing, playing on the competition cartridge. of course I won.

I hear someone got a 1'31 in one store (on gamefaqs, some of them lie so I don't know if it is true). Either someone knows how to mt or snake or he got really lucky with items. I'll be on mkwii all day on friday learning the game properly.

EDIT - Oh yeah. Some keen mk players "might" join this site. They were asking me how I managed to get a time like that and I said do you know the mk site? They said they didn't and I said go to it and it will help you. Maybe they will join. Most people wanted to play in my race. Don't see why because beating me doesn't mean beating my best time. Being in my race gives you less of a chance! Anyway it was fun near the end and we got talking while racing. Never been to anything like that before.

But i got 1.40.xx apparently, i wasn't really bothered i just wanted to try the game xD.

I actually got lucky! I had clean laps with no1 using Blue shells or Lighting Bolt or anything but i blocked a red shell with my green shell and i do loads of wheelies!! I also got a time of 1:37 first and i got a 1:35  after the 1:31 lol Also i had a another almost clean run but my friend YES MY FRIEND blue shelled me at the end lol


BTW every1 had to use the wii wheel... so no1 did powerslides a guy attempted it but he wasnt good at it well no one was... and u cant snake on MKWii... so no1 did that..

They pick you up? I heard they pay for you and I was going to get the train on Friday night. They said they might pay for a hotel but they weren't sure as it's not them going to call me. They pass the results onto someone else. They advised me to leave on Friday and not Saturday, so they better

So you have the game now? What's your take on SSMTing? Is it for sure in the past or something that would most likely be "exploited" in time? I would like to hear comments on this from a more reliable source. (well i don't really know why i ask as i will be gone in an hour and won't get home in a week so al info will most likely be out when i get back anyway... But maybe i'll get access to a computer in Greece at some point, who knows )

One person who snaked in MKDS says that SSMTing is definetly in, but yeah i'm not completely sure i trust him. Although i find his words more trustworthy than most others on the gamefaqs board

I got a 1.34.07 in my 4th go but i only got 1 good item that was a mega mushroom . Looks like il be seeing you in the finals gl

From what I have been able to experiment with the game, ssmt are almost out for sure, i was fortunate enough to use a gc controller. When u initiate a drift u will see only see some spakrs coming fomr the wheels if u are turning in the same direction as the drift or the joystick is in the middle, if u counter steer the mt will stop charging, therefore to charge an mt on the straight you would theoretically need to start skid tunr very shaprly and hope u manage to generate up to blue.
From my judgement I would say at present that ssmt will be very hard and most likely not help full in the game.
I managed to do one ssmt but it took so long to get it to blue that when i eventually let go i felt like I lost time racing and even went a bit on the sand. Those are my views though we dont know until more people have tried it out.

You only need to know the tracks' names (which are almost 100% now), the rest is copy&paste + new design.
