I really didn't expect to tie the opener WR here, let alone beat it. It's particularly fluke-y given that I hadn't driven an opener better than 10"22 prior. One thing that was already in the back of my mind with regards to CI1 NTSC openers (and 5lap splits in general) is that it's hard to gauge how "legit" they are due to how common speed loss is exiting the final boost. Thankfully, there's no doubt in my mind that this was a viable opener as it was in the context of a 10"17/"06/crash 5lap attempt.
