I don't believe this guy, but "too many luck wheelies" is a weak argument on Luigi Circuit. You pretty much need lots of good chain wheelies to even stand a chance on this course. The fact that he's unknown and has times that were apparently set at ridiculous dates is far more damning than an abundance of perfect chains.

Someone that isn't known in any communities, nor posted the time himself, had a time better than the WR in 2008 without posting it, should be legit?

yes, playing a modified game has been banned since long ago and WRs have been discounted for it therefore Ruso’s time doesn’t count

I have no idea why Cole added it to the WRs page, but he made a mistake

The reason that I made the exception for ruso is because he has been streaming, his disc reader is broken, and the community seems to support counting this as a WR. Even though I personally think it shouldn't be counted because of custom music/textures, ultimately I try to go with that the community thinks when counting WRs. But since people here are voicing concerns I think it's clear now that I should reconsider my decision.

The problem is that the general TT community still does not support the PP's rule to ban all custom textures/music. They think that modifications that don't give an obvious advantage are fine to use. And I'm not just talking about the youtube community, there are many high caliber players that feel this way too.

This goes against my opinion on the matter, as well as what the PP decided. Basically this comes down to deciding which ruleset to use on the WR site: The one that I and the PP supports, or the one that the general TT community supports.

I would like to see more posts about this, but right now I am leaning towards removing his time.

About ruso's past: I do not consider him banned from the page. Yes, he has lied about WRs and attempted to use infinite wheelie on TTs (which he found crashes the ghost). But that was 3 years ago and he has been making an effort to prove himself legit by streaming. If he gets a WR with a clean iso then it should be counted.

I don't really like the custom music ban now I think about it. I think that a time should count as long as the course itself is not physically altered, I guess the majority think this way too

In my opinion, custom music should be strongly discouraged and not allowed for proof streams, but if a time is set with just custom music I think it shouldn't be banned just like that.

I'm glad Sword spoke out about this one, because to be honest, I've been biting my tongue about RusoX for quite some time now. His past is one issue, but the fact that he insists on playing with custom textures and music is what really bothers me. His stream also fails to set my mind at ease because I know he hasn't been following all the procedures (at least not at the times I watched). I can recall one particular time that I watched one of his videos and saw that he put a link to his stream recording in the description as proof. When I actually checked it out, it turned out that he only played against a ghost for the first 5 minutes or so (without even finishing a lap, I might add) and then went right back to solo Time Trials. And every time he posted a video of some noteworthy accomplishment, it was without any ghost--not even a staff ghost. His history with the track is a point in his favor, but since I wasn't entirely convinced regarding his recent improvements, I felt rather uncomfortable this whole time. But I wasn't sure how well people would take it if I brought up my concerns, so I kept silent.

Regarding custom textures and music, yes, they are banned, and with good reason, too. The fact that the advantage given by custom music is small is irrelevant if there is, in fact, an advantage to be had, and I am absolutely certain that it does give a mental advantage. So why do people still use such things? Simple...They know they can get away with it. It's a blatant challenge to the rules, and they know that we're going to back down because of their status in the community, just like we have many times in the past.
