He did not show up of nowhere. Kezer is a well known German player who specialized on time trialing TF some time ago. I do not remember when exactly he came to the community, but he is holding the German record for a pretty long time and improved it several times.
He does not have hard proof for better times than a 1'51"5, though, so I understand that a lot of people are suspicious of him.

It is the old story - whenever a new WR holder shows up, no one trusts him, unless he's a Jap Grin

I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen super low jumps in any noteworthy Toad's Factory runs. DK has pulled them off in several different runs (and usually on Lap 3 to boot, if I remember correctly). Also, Kezer has been posting his progress on Toad's Factory here for quite some time now (he was noted for playing TF "religiously" in a news update last year), so I don't see why you're surprised that people who visit this forum regularly would have grown comfortable with him.

Also, I really hope this nonsense about a "diagonal finish line" gets settled once and for all. It's always irked me whenever I see a good run end with the player deliberately turning to the side at the end. And even if the finish line really were diagonal, running from the front-left corner of the checkered field to the rear-right corner, it still wouldn't be facing as far to the side as I've seen many players turn.

EDIT: Wow, the ending of DK's run was awful.

No, I trust Suiryu, I believe he's legit. But he has 1:50.8, Shaun has 1:50.7, so Shaun would have the WR otherwise.
