Didn't gain/lose any time. Much like clipping the wall on the TF 2nd corner (some of the TAS runs do this).

There has actually been a TAS tool for Wii that gives full range of motion like the Wii Wheel that came out IIRC, but none of the TASers have bothered to use it.

Having the dot on the corner of the square vs having the dot at the edge of the circle does nothing different to the bike at all. Smiley

On flat courses like MC3 you won't need anything but the left-right-range.
