Fans of alternate Wii control schemes were obviously psyched when it was revealed that Mario Kart Wii would support a variety of control methods, including the Wii Classic Controller and Gamecube pad. But those fans might want to scale back their expectations, as an updated game fact sheet (posted on Nintendo's press site) claims that players who don't use the Wii Remote schemes will not be able to perform "certain moves" and "some maneuvers."

What maneuvers exactly? We're not quite sure, but the new mid-air tricks probably aren't among them -- A Link to the Future notes that an IGN preview specifically mentions Classic and Gamecube controller users can hit the d-pad to perform those. We find it hard to imagine that the plethora of joysticks and buttons on the alternate control schemes can't replicate the controls of the somewhat button-free design of the Wii Remote. Could this be an effort to encourage more use of the practically useless 'extremely useful' Wii Wheel? You'll know as soon as we do.

I find it hard to believe that Nintendo would not assign all control inputs to a button. This is just retarded if true, and will be sure to disappoint many. The obvious suspects are the control inputs to (1) pull off a mid trick, and (2) pull off a wheelie. I think that's all the wiimote adds, besides steering lol, and maybe pointing for game menus.

I think instead it may mean that the classic control schemes lack the motion sensing abilities (the controller moves or controller maneuvers) that the Wiimote has. But that they're assigned to a button and everything works in the game still. Please God let this be true.

" I know that Bozon had mentioned in our podcast that he couldn't find a way to perform tricks or wheelies in Mario Kart Wii using a GCN or classic controller. You can, though – the functionality is just mapped to the D-Pad. So when you go off a jump, tap up on the D-Pad and you'll trick. Same for wheelies. "

IGN

So? You can accelerate, brake, steer, drift and use items + tricks and wheelies.
What is missing? (except for "A" on the Wiimote which is to look behind you)

hello guys,
I've seen in a few stores here already some boxes with MKwii, but I thought they would release it april 11th Huh So, can u guys already buy it or is it just for the decoration
btw I ordered one on the internet, so I might play it too. Though the MT-tech doesn't sound nice to me, so I might just stick with MKDD Cheesy

No, we can't buy it yet its the 11th when we can get it (Europeans) 27th for Americans >_<

Yeah, the MT system looks bad i know...but i suppose wheelies and stunts could replace those. Wink

I have played 100cc so far, I dont know if its random or you can change it or what. All I know is it was slow as hell. After the track is selected it comes up saying which engine category the race is in, I didnt really pay attention, but everytime I have looked at it, it says 100cc

Which staff ghost you actually beat? There are 2, a noob and an advance staff ghost.

The advance is 1'19"419

Is it possible to make a wheelie/stunt with the gc contoller? Also, which controller seems best to use?

It is yes, you use the d pad, and it works a charm. I'm going full classic. Reaching the d pad on classic feels easier for me than the cube pad.

And Dry Bones is a demon Smiley

I've played both online, but I'm not sure what determines the class. There's certainly no choice. Possibly goes on ratings, possibly not.

I'm using the classic controller but I might try the Wiimote + nunchuk combo.  This game is good fun on wi-fi but I can see it getting boring much faster than other Mario Kart games.   It seems a bit too simple at times.
