Actually, the 50/50 is a test to see if it reduces bandwidth. The idea is you should have less page loads because more information being served up per page load. Each page load carries with it a bandwidth overhead in the form of html request and page headers in addition to any re-serving of non-cached page elements (which can vary depending on each individual person's browser settings).

To my knowledge, you can't technically post images to the forum. You can only hotlink images sitting out on someone else's servers. The 56k warning that Alex added to my ugly mug topic was designed as warning for individuals with limited bandwidth capacity. The 50/50 thing, being purely a server side issue, should have a negligible impact on those people. But really, who still has dial-up? Apparently people in Australia. They also have to deal with dingos and funnel-web spiders - what a miserable life.

As far as the banner thing is concerned for MKWii, that will probably be left up to whoever decides to create a page for it. In other words, ask Alex. He may find time after he fends off all those wild dogs and poisonous, man-eating spiders and connects to his AOL account.
