New timesaving non-NBT boost on MC1 NTSC???
01/18/08 at 12:01:23

I just tried MC1 NTSC after some CI2 where I cut the "choco" after the second corner (with a non-NBT boost, of course). I made a wide third corner and turned back (like a normal non-NBT boost), cut the sand and got 11"84!!! So: should it be allowed for non-NBT racing or is this NBT? I couldn't find a topic about it and the non-NBT rules says that it should be allowed.

A vid (the second lap):

MC1 11"84

Please comment.

Offroad boosts are per definition NBT. It's different for CI2 cos you almost have to drive through the lake anyway, so the lake is not really considered offroad there.

It's the very first rule.  Wink

Yeah, that's pretty much exactly how NBT was born, except it was the last corner on DP1 that they did that.

Yes Alvin that is NBT.

As per conversation earlier, i thought you meant something on first corner similar to the way Michael Liem used to do years back when he first broke 1'00 barrier. you jump over the first corner but dont boost across it.

But yeah now that you are playing some NBT u can hit some really fast times  Cool

Smiley

My zigzagging is still bad.

I won't play NBT (at least not now), and if that will help to ban NBT, I am willing to freeze my times. Smiley

*Feels no way to get an NBT timeset*

Alvin, you are a good guy, but the things you say about NBT and ZZMT don't make any sense.

You just have to say that you don't like them... the fact that those aren't cheats is proved.

Yeah, it's not cheating. You've chosen to not modify your controller, and not use NBT. That doesn't mean it's cheating. IMO adding NBT adds a whole new dimension to this game, and makes it have much more replay value. It's not cheating when you have a large amount of people doing it.

Read this: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/cheat

Definition 5.

It's not against the rules to NBT, so it's not cheating. When you choose to only play Non-NBT, you have to accept the fact that you will never reach the very top of the rankings. That's just how it works. That's why there's a Non-NBT site.

Just stop complaining about the advantages of NBT, it isn't an advantage, it's an alternate way to play the game that happens to be faster.

At least NBT is a glitch.

@Jacob, I alrwady have NBT records with zigzag boosting and without a modified controller.

NBT isn't a glitch either... boosting after a long slide was intended to be available when the game was created... therefor, zigzagging is just using this 'intended boost' in a better way to make faster times by cutting corners... a glitch would be something that happens with the game that isn't supposed to happen.

No idea... thats is a glitch, but what has it got to do with every other track in the game... this doesn't change the fact that zigzagging isn't a glitch, the IB has nothing to do with zigzagging.

This one was a mistake, I agree. IB is definitively a bug, and now it's too late to delete all those times done with IB. At least it's a new way to drive in TT, and it affects only one lap. And MC2 is definitively different from others races cos it's also the only one where we can long-boosting in TT ! So I pretty like this diversity on one track. Smiley

Agreed Pierre, it is a diversity for one track, each track has different approaches and driving styles anyway. Some have platform jumps, ice jumps, lots of grass to NBT across, or just corner gaps to jump (RR). So this one with a bit of IB and LB'ing is fine.

Happy karting weekend to all

Got 11"72 and submit that one.

I need some help at CI2 NTSC. I can do the mudboost now but never reach the end of the lake. Do I have to release A (where?), or is there an other trick where I don't know about? Thanks!

On CI2 non-nbt you can't release A to be considered non-nbt and you can't reach the end of the lake to be non-nbt
