Sorry for the double post, but I got some good/bad news for you people trying to beat Hirano's RR time.

Good news: It is beatable.

Bad news: Only if you drive a next to perfect race. I can say this because I TAS'ed the 3-lap after a few people saying they wouldnt try until they knew it was actually beatable.

My own time is 1.5 sec behind but using a slightly different strat.. (vid in sig). Might be able to pull something off if I used his strat... does anyone know how much time approx it saves?
Btw, what is a TAS? Sorry for being nub lol, I haven't touched the game in ages and aren't aware of these terms -_-.

TAS = Tool-Assisted Speed Run

While constructing these, you are allowed to use techniques not otherwise at your disposal, such as savestates, (for infinite retries of a specific part) frame advance or any similar fashion of slowing down speed to overcome human limitations. If the player does his or her job well; Applies the best strategies flawlessly executed, it will be a good, not to say perfect indicator of what is truly possible.

I just TAS'd the first lap and got 11.85 (.03 faster than Matt).  Imo my whole lap looks cleaner than Matt's, so I can't figure out why I gained so little time.  If I figure that out, then maybe another .1 can come off.

Btw I tried to start the lap with ticking so I could shroom earlier, but I couldn't get it to work.  Every time I tried, I lost speed at the moment I touched the bumper.  If anyone can get this to work, it would probably save at least .1 on lap 1.

A friend and me decided to go for the WR. So far, we can do the first 3 jumps..   But practise makes perfect, so who knows. And a year is a lot of time..

I have to try... The most important before all, is to be sure which character is the best ! TAS can help us.

Dang Hirano is good, his strat isn't too different but sooo much more difficult lol.

I picked up the game today for the first time in 2-3 years... I'll get there . If not, I wanna at least beat my old time hehe.
And nice opener, I'd use it for tips but can't control bowser at all xD.

For the second half of the sc, it seems that you don't even need to touch the second zipper to make the jump (just need to hop from first to third zipper to maintain speed). Got a 12"43 opener,  a little faster but still laughable compared to Hirano's 11"91 .
