Controller Modifications

Any of you MKDDers out there have opened up the controller and changed anything inside??  I had this one controller that the R button didn't work well at all, so I found a small flat tool and opened up the controller then found my way to the R button and when fixing the spring thing, I put an extra piece of plastic cuf off the end of a pen in there so now when I use that controller, I can just press R like any other button to MT, instead of pushing it down that extra centimeter or so...so far I really like it because my finger doesn't ever get tired...hehe....on a different controller that the stick was messed up, I opened it up and there was something that had fallen into the mechanism under the control stick, so I pulled that off and got the junk out of there, then I tried an idea and I am not sure if that is working well or not....see, I never use that controller on other games because it's pretty old, so I glued the stick so it would only move left and right instead of up and down...so far, when using it...I notice that my MTs are much better, I very very rarely "miss" an MT any more (though I only used it for like an hour) and there is only one drawback...you cannot "Restart" during the race because the stick won't move up or down, so I just keep another controller sitting with me so I can restart if I mess up or else I just finish the race anyways, which is usually good to do...

So, anyone else want to tell their controller stories??

I put a lot of "sport's tape" on both triggers of an old controller to make them bigger, so that I had to move my fingers just a bit to launch MTs. Sadly, I broke that controller, and never did the same with another one.

Yeah, I have athletic tape on my main karting controller's handles because last summer my hands were always getting sweaty...

I would've done it in the end of October , if I didn't had a second controller. The L-trigger broke , so I had problems with that . It didn't click in , so whenever I started MTs ,they could easily slip away  Lips Sealed.

Didn't do it yet ,though , maybe when this controller will fail me.... Roll Eyes

A tip for you all. Get a controller from Japan, they have much firmer analog sticks.
Also, has anyone tried the small size controllers for gamecube (made by nintendo) that are availible all over asia aswell, looks like an interesting alternative as all the analog sticks needs less distance. (couldnt find a better word for it, my english sucks)

should modification be allowed to a controller?

I mean I might create a microcontroller with software that helps me to play perfect and embedded that in a controller. its a modified controller then but obvious assited by a computer.

the forum and the player's page are two diffrent things. Basically, you join the players page when you submit your times for the first time as instructed here.

Welcome to our site/forum and thanks for the info! Smiley

I've never change my pad, never brake it, he is now very old..
With fzeroGX (snaking) and MKDD Rtech, my R button make a strange noise when I press it...(L button too but less..)
My Z button is broken at the middle... and the grip of the joystick (left side) is 100% dead ^^
My pad is called "tchernobyl pad"  Grin

Luckily there isnt the pivot issue with stuff like snes pads, but that thing about the Japanese pads being different is interesting. Can anyone test if they do better with them? Maybe will avoid sliding off the road.  Smiley
