The main target for this week was GV3 5lap, where my PR had recently drifted out of the Top 20. While grinding for the 5lap, I crashed a run on lap 5 and went to check the splits. To my surprise, the camera started spinning and it turned out that lap 2 was a new flap PR! I got lucky to take that 5lap attempt so far, as I otherwise wouldn't have checked the splits. I'm happy with where I landed on the 5lap, sniping the NR and Top 10 by "02 ahead of Matt. As for MC4 5lap, it's a cadeautje for Aron.

With my new NR on GV3 5lap, I should now be leading the USA NR tally in NTSC for the first time ever!

Message title is a reference to VAJ of course. I was trying to improve the 5-lap seeing it was one of my worst ranks, which felt a bit weird because historically CI1 has always been a good track for me (especially the flaps anyway). I had decided to put the flap on the backburner and not even try it as the prospect of targeting GAS' 9"77 was a bit intimidating and would likely require a huge grind. I tried a flap once in a while when I wanted to check my 5-lap splits after a crash and the best I had gotten was a 9"89...not even almost close. Then I suddenly landed a crazy flap out of nowhere in similar fashion. I thought it would maybe be an "80 or so, but to my own shock it was actually a 9"74. The triple bounce and especially the wall-jump could have been sharper, but the ending was berserk. I think this more or less confirms the ending without bumper is faster when performed really well. This 0"05 PR cut is kind of mindblowing though, when considering it was effectively without a grind and it took me 15 hours or whatever to jump from 9"81 to 9"79 a few years ago if I remember correctly.

After the flap I grinded on a bit and landed a nice 5-lap cut. For the second time in a not too long timespan I managed to miss a live recording of a 5-lap PR. This time my HD was flooded (the lossless recordings are huge) and in the middle of the one run I was PR'ing (because of course) I heard the recording over audio signal....it happened as I entered lap 4 well ahead of the ghost. I still managed to clutch it out, but the final lap definitely could have been better. Anyway, this time at least I did get a replay (hello Rainbow Road....!), so it's OK I suppose. For the rotating cam lovers. Kappa.

BC3 is a course that always makes me think "Do I really need to play this again?" And I do it because I like to improve in all courses. Today I was playing very risky, drifting in that corner where are the 4 thwomps like if they didn't gonna block me or stump on me because I kinda forgot how I used to do that corner. After 10 minutes I got a crazy run maybe a low 1'40   but it died in lap 5 and it was my fault but I got a flap of 19"70. So I was like... let's get a new time. After 2 more hours finally I beat my old time by over 2 seconds and I am happy.   This is the worst track I ever played of all mario kart games, I hate it a lot, and this isn't sub 1'40 which looks like a good goal but I don't care right now, I am taking a long break from this course, it is just a nightmare, I won't be surprised if I never play it ever again, these corners are very tight and it is part of the challenge but getting blocked by those thwomps over and over really makes me angry, they are worse than the fishes on KB. On RR you can avoid the thwomps very easy and they also look cool, but these ones are the worst thing, even worse than the moles on Moo Moo Farm. Yes, I said it! they are worse than the moles on MMF!

Bit of a shame that I didn't get the sub (largely due to a tile hit on lap 3), but I'm happy with gaining 6 ranks from this PR in only an hour of play. Good enough for me to take it and run off to the next track.
