Tried some MC1 today and immediately got a nice result!

The race still had some flaws. I regularly got 11"1x middle laps today, so these weren't actually that good. Finisher was a session best though. Best opener is 11"50 now. I should be happy getting this without a grind for now. Of course if I wanna go further I'll need to dive in seriously. But I think Sami can probably breathe easily tbh. That sub is still insane.

Haven’t played much since my last PR but I got some good results this week! I got my first 5lap PR a few days ago with a clean 1’30”23, cutting half a second off my old time. The next 5lap I finished was my current PR; it had dirthits on laps 3 and 4 but was nice outside of that. I’ve started hitting some 17”8s in 5lap attempts so I definitely have the speed to get the sub, and I’ve already crashed a few promising runs so it’s only a matter of time.

The flap came out of the blue while I was working on the course time. About half an hour earlier I tied my old 17”83 PR during a 5lap, so I knew there was potential but I’d focus on it later. I failed an ok race on lap 4, then went all out on the last lap and nailed it. The lap was sharp all around and had a nice phantom dirt hit on the third corner. I’m not sure whether it’s faster to jump at the hairpin or get a boost; I’ve had good results with the boost in my 5laps but this lap had a near-perfect hairpin jump. This gets me my 4th GOD this year and my CR total is up to 5, the highest it’s been yet. I’m happy with this time but I’ll give it some proper attempts later to see whether I can replicate it.

Thanks Karel! MJ’s PAL times are on another level and I’ve watched his videos more than a few times. This track has become surprisingly fun to drive as I’ve improved, and the cherry on top is that I’ve figured out how to be gentler on the d-pad

^ How many different calendar years have you PRed in now? When was the last year in which you didn't get a SMK PR?

It's 2021 and people are still finding ways to push the limits of SMK. This game seems to know no boundaries...

Does anybody else think SMK time trialing will continue to evolve in the next three decades? That we will continue to discover new strats that allow for even lower times? Will a 65-year-old Sami Çetin have continued to provide updates to the Players' Page nearly every week of his life?

The fact that this game is as relevant as ever after 28+ years is all the proof you need that SMK is one of the GOATs of video games. The community keeps growing and it's always exciting to see who joins it year after year. There are probably people who haven't been born yet, who may be sending their time trial records to a middle-aged Sami in the decades to come. (After all, we already have several players who weren't born yet when Sami created the original SMK PP-- one of whom is in the PAL Top 20!) This game may be from 1992 yet it is truly ageless and timeless just like Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, or Super Mario Bros.

I did it again....a WR on a Monday after the update. That's just how I roll I suppose. Though I only played on Monday this past week, so I'm kinda asking for it haha. This was a pretty fast one again. Shout-outs to GUILHERME ARANTES for suggesting this strat. This race had a pretty big mistake in lap 1 after the U turn, cost about a tenth. So yeah the 1'11 is defo doable, but maybe Sami can do that one, I'm not much of a GV3er. I was in it this time to get the potato cam WR down and the NR back. Consider that done for now.
