CI2 - 12.20

It's been fun returning here with a new strat, looking forward to taking it lower in the future!

Congrats on the multiple WRs this week everyone!

Cashing in on my free 53 and more

Hi all!

I kept getting 18"2x laps on MC4 so I've called it a day for now. Potential is obviously there, but pooling it all together without speedloss is another story. Instead I decided to cash in on my free 53 on CI1, as Lafungo calls it. Continued a bit more after that and got a decent 5-lap run. The first corner and bump straight was a bit of a mess in most of the laps, sadly, so tenths were lost overall still. That said, again, that's a very hard part to max out (imo), especially across all 5-laps. The ending was extremely safe as well, wasn't gonna crash a 5/5 FB race.

PAL
CI1 NBT 53"67 (-0"35)

Splits:
L1 10"96 (best is 10"80)
L2 10"73 (best is 10"55)
L3 10"66
L4 10"73
L5 10"59 (best is 10"51)

Video of CI1 PAL 53"67: https://youtu.be/b52DXC1c95Q

I also got around to uploading the video of my older MC2 5-lap PR. So if Sami can attach that video link to my PR profile it would be appreciated.

Cheers,

PAL NBT
DP2: 1'25"80/16"93 https://youtu.be/b-3AvK-SKQg / https://youtu.be/b-3AvK-SKQg
BC3: 1'30"38 https://youtu.be/DnVuYvCK_BY

Played BC3 first and was able to finish a clean run fairly quickly, especially given the nature of the track. Getting a chance from the thwomps without having to throw yourself at them for ages and then capitalizing on that chance is very satisfying.

I then moved on to DP2, where the main goal was to get the 5lap sub. In this week's session I was able to figure out an improved approach to the last two turns, and was getting way more 17"0x splits than in my previous sessions. My first finished 5lap was a 1'25"88, but I decided to keep going because GAS has "86. Eventually I got a crazy run that was way ahead of my ghost going into lap 4. I started to crumble in lap 4 and even more in lap 5, but managed to keep it together just enough to finish a few frames ahead of my ghost with a 1'25"80. Much to my surprise, lap 2 was not only my second-ever sub-17 lap, but also beat my flap PR by "06! With this in mind, I can't not go for more.

Thanks,
Lafungo.

We don't know what gender you are, Andrea. You can assign your profile a gender (male, female, or "variable"). Here in America, Andrea is a woman's name but it's a man's name in Italy (think Andrea Boccelli). Don't know about Latin America though.

If you do happen to be the first female Guatemalan player, we have a women-only rankings, look on the left sidebar of the Players' Page for a link marked "Women AF".

Yep, SMK is not Athletics and I think we are all playing in the same courtyard, or garden, or simply the same category, in this sense SMK is not a track and field event just like the shot put but we are all together within the mixed category, Nick please I told you that you can have a GF (irl) but just apply common sense in here Smiley

Welcome Andrea, I don't know if you're a boy or girl and I don't care but I know that your last name is Coronado, and you got my Nintention Smiley

Welcome to the Players’ Page Andrea! Great progress this week Smiley

BC3: 1’29”10 (Titan F/Legend C, #38/#14)
Splits: 17”64, 17”80, 17”64, 17”95, 18”07

Got this one within a few hours spread over the weekend. I swear some of my best driving comes late at night—this happened at 4 AM because I was too bored and awake to sleep. Sub 1’29 is my minimum goal so I’m not happy with this one, especially considering the last two laps. The opener was at my flap level and lap 3 was good, which put me on one of my best paces ever. Then I had an atrocious wall hit on lap 4’s first corner, and I barely missed becoming a pancake at the thwomp wall. Somehow lap 5 was even shakier, capped off by a really ugly last corner and missed boost which killed my chance at the sub. My crash rate has been pretty high so it’s nice to finish a run, but I can’t be satisfied when I know I can get well under 1’29 with a good run and a bit of luck.

Hi all!

PAL
GV2 NBT 1'01"01 (-0"20)

Splits:
L1 12"39
L2 12"16
L3 12"12
L4 12"20
L5 12"14

I did it again...2020 the year of the failed barrier attempts (at least for me). Still a first world problem, I don't mind too much lol. I didn't think I would still play before the update, but finished work half an hour early and almost immediately landed this. I had some earlier sessions with WR splits, so kinda unlucky I finished like the worst of the available runs that I did. This was exactly the same scenario for the first 5/5 I finished, now slightly over a decade ago. The missed boost at the end of lap 4 killed the sub. As well as a bunch of wide platform-jumps and a safer than sorry last corner. Oh well.

Cheers,
KVD

MC3 (PAL) – 16"83 NBT

First PR in two years, set after roughly 2 hours of a "comeback" session dedicated to this new strat I had never tried before. I find it interesting but a bit hazardous, hence I don't know if I'll go for a 5/5 there when I switch to the 5-lap (not even sure I'll go for it: I'm still ranked #5 there and my PR is the best "old strat" ranked on the site).

EDIT: I managed to tie this PR and make a video of it. Unfortunately, the capture device decided to froze around the moment the splits were shown, so I cannot show it's a 16"83, but the video speaks for itself:

CI2 (PAL) – 12"66 NBT

First PR with the new strat imported from Brazil, I might not have finished with that one yet, but I'm pretty happy with this 0"05 cut. Video will come later, it'll depend on the success of my new attempts tomorrow.

EDIT : couldn't improve it because I decided to switch immediatly on CI1, where I got two new PRs (see post below). Here's the video:

MC2 (PAL) – 12"76 NBT

I improved one of my oldest PRs with this one, which uses the new LB building strat. I had a very powerful and long one which helped securing a new PR, since the rest of the lap was not really good (but safe enough). I wanted to win a quick 0.050 there without spending hours grinding and it's done:

Hehe, I kinda did it on purpose!

I had two new PRs on CI1 PAL today, very minor wins so no videos for the moment as I plan to improve them: 10"47 / 54"12 (both NBT of course). Also edited the previous post with my CI2 lap video.

DP2: 1'25"25 https://youtu.be/5ucxJrD0GVg

Very happy with this PR, as I was able to string together 5 solid laps on a track where it is extremely easy to bleed tenths. This is my first Top 3 time outside of CI1 5lap, and it is particularly satisfying to hit considering that this is a track where the top strat has remained essentially static for many years (and thus I haven't benefited from the adoption of a "new" strat). I'm not too sure how much more PAL TT I'll be doing in the near future, but regardless this PR will certainly be a highlight of my 2020 PAL campaign.  Smiley

Thanks,
Lafungo.
