That thread IMO is pretty mild compared to some of the crap that's been floating around in General the past few months...
The SMK forum is hardly ever subject to the flame wars and bullshit that General (and a few other forums) get every day. It all sounded sarcastic....but my question is...if threads get out of hand and regular members are noticing that something may need to be moderated, why not just contact the moderator via PM/MSN/whatever to get it fixed? I know Sami was online earlier today, so it's not like he's gone AWOL and nothing can be done about it.
But in general, yea, the flame wars were on the increase over the past few months, especially with people like JCM/Brenda, T-Man, and Ben D...all three/four were banned and things seemed to have calmed down, at least a bit. Of course, all that came after a few threads just like this, addressing the same thing. I think at the end of the day it really boils down to everyone here controlling what he/she does. Not everything can be moderated by our current mods/admins. Personalities clash and harsh words get said sometimes; that's the internet for you. I'm glad that the worst of it is removed/topics locked/whatever by mods as soon as they can see it, but not everything can/should be censored.
I don't think it's just the MKDS kiddies or the cockier forum veterans...everyone gets twinges of disrespect/anger/whatever every so often (myself included), some more so than others. However, I can't agree that the most mature people here are the MKDS kiddies, because if that were true, the MKDS forum wouldn't be like it is. Probably the most mature people here are the ones that don't say anything to contribute to flaming/try to be constructive about it, but I think that everyone's attitude/personality in general contributes to the character of this board.
Basically in short, I'll quote Steve Meakings (or attempt to as I'm too lazy to dig up exactly where he posted this): "People can't be perfect, and this board can't be either."
