I voted for MJ, because he's MJ, duh.  Tim got one of the worst matchups ever.  His only supporters would be in the "old MK64" section, and MJ dominates MK64 and has been around for quite a while.  I'm guessing Tim's votes were from people who are old enough to remember his forum posts but who aren't into MK64.  I don't fit in either category.

Oops, I forgot to vote in this one but MJ took most the votes anyway.  Those who do not know much about the mk64 community probably have heard of MJ and his times and voted for him.  Based on Tim's bio he contributed a lot to the site community etc. and his famous Everett start.  Just a tough matchup for Tim given MJ's fame.

I voted Trystan just then. Grandjean is a nice bloke. IIRC, he lived/s in Geneva and is/was involved in finance, and has an education and knows PHP (he asked me for some help a few times), so he's done pretty good for himself. But he's not as active in the community  in recent times.

Trystan... well I voted for him because he passed me in MKDD and MK64, so makes him cool. Even if he played when I wasn't active Wink Hs margin of victory is already scary, and he might get even more votes if he re-posts the 10 Things to Hate About Kart movie. Should I be worried? Undecided

I have those vids.  Maybe I should upload them to thengamer and link them in his bio.

Edit: http://www.thengamer.com/MK64/Tenthingstohateaboutmariokart/

It's not done uploading yet so don't start downloading yet.

Edit 2: Done uploading.

Yeah this was a tough matchup for Tim Everett (and a tough matchup for just about anyone else). I've talked with Tim many times. He found a way to shave .01 on basically every race...hey, every little bit helps.  Wink

And also, the Tim Everett I knew was a good-hearted young man who treated others with respect and committed himself to playing by the rules and doing what he could to make the kart community a better place (not that it isn't great already...you know  Smiley ).

I voted for MJ though. It's like watching Michael Jordan play basketball (not right now, I mean several years ago when jordan was in ballin' shape), Tiger Woods play golf (when he's healthy...forget tiger's recent performances, that's not what I'm referring to.), Roger Federer play tennis (when he's not playing Rafael Nadal), Michael Jongerius is the best and he's an all-around classy guy aswell. He shares his strats and gives people a fair opportunity to beat him, and he always emerges victorious because of his amazing gifts as a kart player.

I haven't talked to him as much as Tim, but the times I talked to MJ he was very polite with a touch of humour, and he seemed to have a wonderful personality. Also, in his vids, he plays the kind of music I can get down to.  Smiley

Two worthy individuals, but since I can only vote for one, MJ gets my vote without a doubt.

I quit Angry lol jk Grin

Congrats Joe, I'll admit I didn't know who you were until I read your bio, but when I did I was shocked!  11 WRs in 1 week Shocked.  I'll be trying for something more like 1 WR in 11 years lol.  And I don't really post on the SMK board but when I do read it you appear to be one of the cooler guys there, so again congrats.  Good luck against MJ  Wink

I voted for Joe Bernier. This one was tough for me though because I don't really know either of these guys. I actually forced myself to do some research for this one to ensure that I would make a fair vote.

First off I must say, judging by Joe's bio, he's earned a ton of respect from me already. 11 WRs in one week (as Robin said) is amazing and anyone who rises to #1 in a kart community has to be talented and dedicated. It takes a lot to be #1 here. As far as quality racing goes, Joe clearly has an edge over Robin.

There's more to winning my vote than being the best player though. Afterall, Robin was creative enough to think of the rivalry feature that is now being used on all of our kart sites. And plus, he is a staff member, thus he puts effort into keeping the kart 64 website updated that I send my times to. I thank Robin for that and I respect what he does.

Also, I read in Robin's bio that he converted the join pages of MKDD and MKDS into Japanese, which helps our communities to become more global. So now after reading Robin's bio, I like the job he does and he seems like a great person that benefits our communities in many ways.

There really are a lot of good things to say about both of these guys I'd say, so it was a tough decision. The reason I chose Joe Bernier was that I was in a chatroom with him one time, and though I really didn't interact with him, I thought he was very classy and I liked his personality. If I knew Robin, who knows, I might say the same for him.

Oh, and one last thing. There's a bad comment on Robin's bio that should be edited or removed: "Robin also owns and briefly played Mario Kart Super Circuit, but he sucked so much at it that he couldn't even unlock the SMK tracks, so he never joined the site."

Who wrote this? Whoever you are, be more polite, c'mon.

Vote goes to Joe Bernier cause I had a chance to see what a great guy he is and he has great talent.

First of all, thanks to everyone who voted for me.

Second of all, Robin is a great contributor to many of the MK sites, and I really appreciate all the work he has done to make the community what it is.

Third of all, as soon as I saw the seeding, I knew it would be tough for both of us to advance further than the second round.  Whether it be me or Robin, we'd both be screwed against MJ...

I have to thank the people that let me into the contest; a million times over.  And thanks to Robin, of course, for knowing that we'd both inevitably eat it against the MK64 World Champion.  Wink

These sites are a lot of fun, and I've always seen it to be that way.  You all kick ass.  Enough said...

I voted for Lacey.

Fernando is a good guy and I talked with him a number of times. He did many good things in the early days of MKDD and set a few WRs in Kart 64, so I have a lot of respect for him.

Lacey though...Lacey knows how to keep in touch with his feminine side (trust me, that's a good thing) and he's cooler than words can describe. Wink

I voted for Karlsson.
I think Pierre is a better contributor to the message boards, but I voted for Karlsson because he's one of the best combined MK-players in the world. You can't just ignore a 4th place combined ranking.

Another reason is because he's from Scandinavia. I support my neighbors in Sweden even though I'm Norwegian. Smiley

I voted for Pierre L'Hoest.

Once again, I don't know either of those two players, so all I had to judge by was bios.

Both are World Champions at one game it appears, which is awesome and they must be great at what they do, but Pierre is great at two games and Richard only plays one according to the bio. So I voted for Pierre since this was all I knew about the two guys.

The bios must not be completely accurate though, cause now I hear people saying that Richard plays more than one kart game. It's a shame I didn't know these guys better.

Pretty much same reason, just switch norwegian out with danish Grin
And then i also happen to know karlsson slightly better as he has been active in MKDS and i have talked to him on msn before Smiley
