Compare the size of any two countries with this site.
https://www.mylifeelsewhere.com/country-size-comparison/united-states/indonesiaInsert the names of any two countries you want to compare at the end of this URL. I chose United States vs. Indonesia because it's certainly one of the most surprising; while the USA covers five times the area of Indonesia, the latter's east-west extent actually outreaches that of the former (if you exclude Alaska and Hawaii). If you want to put Indonesia over Europe instead, try replacing United States with Germany. Either way, its east-west expanse is amazing. (although it "only" takes up three time zones)
Also try comparing Spain's size to some other Spanish-speaking countries, including Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, and the largest one of all by area, Argentina. By European standards, Spain might seem really big (the second largest Western European nation by area, closely behind France), but place it on other continents and it doesn't seem to be that big of a country at all, especially when you consider how much area in the Americas it once controlled.
France vs. some of the francophone African nations presents some surprises as well. Try Mali, Niger, and
especially the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
UK compared to Australia, India, or even Pakistan might amaze some of you Brits. I can see why there's never been an Australian Kart meet (that I know of)-- the population centers Down Under are just too far apart, particularly Perth. The country might as well be a group of islands. Good luck to anyone trying to drive the entirety of Australia National Route 1, and God help you if you have car trouble on the Nullarbor Plain...
