Water techniques

I can not understand the water techniques.

1) In many videos sometime the kart go faster in the water even w/o Mt'ing or shrooming.
Is sliding required to do that? Do I need to release the gas?

2) How can i bounce on Deep Water without shrooming?

thanks

I have a feeling that this is similar to the SMK way , in that case , its all about hitting the water at a specific angle ( im no expert on the subject tho , as I hardly ever get it to work) and then letting go of the dpad until its straightened out.

NB! I might be way off here Roll Eyes

as said above its about jumping into a slide and when you jump pushing the d-pad as far to one side as possible and then letting go.. you'll go quicker across the water in a straightish line but with the kart tilted. Its a good time saver on kb1 and kb2 as well as CCI for miliseconds.

Bouncing on darkwater? I'm struggling to bounce on water with a shroom still!!

I don't know the physics as well as, say Pierre, or any of the seasoned SMK/MK:SC players, but here's what I've found:

To go faster on shallow water, jump into a slide and release the gas afterwards as you hit the water, to glide across.
When you bounce on water, release the gas on impact (i.e. When you hit the water surface), to bounce farther, since there will be less slowdown. (This really helps you get across on LP.)

You know that gap you can jump across without a shroom in KB1. Here's how I do it. I start a slide to get close to the smallest part of the gap, and shortly after release the gas. I hold A again just before I jump. When I'm about to go onto the deep water, I release the gas just as I am about to land on it, and will bounce farther.

I'm sure there are things to add, but this is what I know. This is key to the fast times in SGB. The one-shroomer is done with a glide.

SGB is the other reason of my request  Grin
I've my total times in KB1 and SGB very close to my splits, but still i loose over 1 second per lap  Tongue
I'll try your tips next time i'll play a circuit with water.
