A post into this thread is a WR submission as far as I'm concerned since I follow Etch's site. Semantics aside, you're talking about preserving the history of a 10 year old game on the time scale of days rather than hours. It's such a small difference.

Sure, I'm not fussed about intermediate improvements to WRs as I get to my final time. But when it comes to submitting times on the PP (which is what this community is primarily about) I very much care about making sure my times are recorded and proven:

In all the 9 years I've owned my youtube account, I've provided video proof for nearly every single PR I've submittedto the PP, as well as some BKS's. I'd wager that the amount of PR's I've submitted to the PP that lack a video are in single figures, and I mean for ALL times I ever set, not merely my current timseheet. I've even kept all of my videos up, unless there's been some issue with 3rd party music or whatever, so people can even see how good/bad I was at various points in time. I don't intend to talk down on anyone when I say this, as everyone who's needed to has more than done their part for videos, but most players aren't as extensive as I am when it comes to recording PRs. So how can you accuse me of "not caring" when I've gone to all this effort when it comes to videos?

That's me got that off my chest, so that's all from me for this debate. Hopefully now someone can post a new WR here to change the topic to something more positive...

I can't be bothered chasing down videos for every single improvement...

If you want a time listed, you know the protocol.  Pretty sure some might be uncomfortable just listing times without a video.  Ultimately, the guys setting WR's have the power and if this discussion is any indication it might be better to list your end result like myself once you are happy with your splits!

A lot of my WRs came from strat changes, and I'd usually only post my time after I got it down to where I was happy. In the cases I posted all the updates... it looks so stupid on the history site.

For a change, it's mostly David and Thomas feeling the heat while Ben chills.  We'll see what the last half of the year has in store but more and more people are starting to draw even now.  Hopefully more of the same or possibly some new faces so good luck!
