The distance between your starting position and the cannon is larger on lap 1. Laps 2 & 3 start in the middle of the finishing line and not in front of it like lap 1. I'm quite sure that already makes up for not going that straight in these laps.
It's not really important (except for a TAS run). Nobody will waste 40 seconds at each attempt just in case to gain a marginal amount of time at the very beginning of a fast lap.

But I really don't think it makes any difference tbh. You could however wait some time till you're able to hit three flipper bounces on lap 2, and save more time off that, just like huffle did in his TAS. I'm not sure if that is humanly possible though.

I do it whenever I'm within WR range. On CCB though the PRB is very hard to get, so if I fuck up PRB I just go to do a flap in lap 2. LM... yeah that was quite boring, but getting the WR was pretty easy so I didn't waste too much time.
