Which of Nintendo's groups did MKSC?  I haven't played that much of Super Mario Kart of Mario Kart 64, but my impression is that Super Circuit is rather different than it's predecessors-- more shortcuts, for example, and maybe a tad more glitchy.

Anybody know the development history of Super Circuit?  And how do you feel this game stacks up against the others in its franchise?

Intellegent Systems, they do a good job with Mario games, like Mario Party is always developed by Inellegent Systems. They also developed Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi, lots of other games. Mostly Mario Games are made by Nintendo itself, or Camlot, Capcom, Hudson, and Intellegent Systems. Also note that Mario Party games are developed more by Hudson (same deal).

Thanks!

Intelligent Systems is part of the broader Nintendo development group, right?

So do you agree that MKSC has a bit of a special feel to it, or does it feel very much in the vein of the other games?

Mario Kart Super Circuit is very Special. It has all the tracks to have you test you karting on, and 40 of them! 40 is a big number, that means quality is streached, right? Wrong, this game made it big time with it tracks, it didn't even need more characters! This is a very special game Frances! Too bad mkds came to be more poorly non-test drivable, meaning mksc has tracks that improove skill, same with mk64, but mkds has enertainment tracks, not testing skill tracks. And thats the best thing about this game Frances. Have a good time with it.

MK:SC feels like the closest thing to continuation SMK as of yet. An extension of what the original featured, with more arrows, plates and alternate routes, and plain variety. Some tracks though, may seem a little short and easy for 3-laps, taking into account that SMK had 5 laps in each race. Some intentional MK:SC shortcuts feel a little abusive. But I'm happy. At least now I won't have to  play for 20 minutes or more just to finish a decent race, which is the case for me on some tracks in the original.  (I'm horrible at 5-laps, I know, but still..)
